An invitation to come to PvP with you, in an anything-goes contest will hardly disprove my points. Apart from having little interest in PvP I imagine we will both die many times- and many times ‘unfairly’. We might eventually agree to rules about what would make it more enjoyable for just us but those rules will hardly apply to anyone else nor would they solve any of the balance issues inherent to the current system. We would just be making the best of a bad situation, which is fair enough, and Kudos to you for persevering.

But if someone drops in while we are having a one of one battle and kills me I won’t be that distressed, because it is a brawl where anything goes, and other people are allowed to enter without restriction or any disposition to fair play, after all the idea of a “brawling” pit hardly demands compliance with illusionary conduct rules. Apparently you seem to think differently, and will be annoyed that someone has interrupted a battle that is innately unbalanced anyhow, and you would be so annoyed as to post in the forums that “other people” who don’t share your values are ruining your PvP experience, and soiling the reputation of the server. Your want for people to at least try to be fair seems noble enough, and you are clearly a person with values you hold dear, but you must understand the situation encourages chaos, and your rules are not shared by all – nor should they be. You take PvP seriously, many of the people who visit there do not, and with good reason.

I think you will find that people are allowed to act in a way non-compliant with your expectations. The reason that:
“alot of people have no idea an agreement like this existed”
is because, it only exists for those who submit to it and is the product of opinion.
Even though it is instanced, a comparison could be made pugging, I simply avoid people who clearly share different values to me, I do not make posts trying to convert them and encouraging others to live up to my expectations. That would come across as condescending and I’m sure I have my fair share of character faults, so to speak.

The reputation of PvP suffers from more than just those who do not submit to your rules, as the many inherent problems associated with it are unsolvable. As soon as one starts to impose rules in an inherently chaotic scenario any righteousness they might be trying to inject is unattainable. Your comment that:
“There had always been a kind of gentlemens agreement in the pvp pit, where a very simple ruleset was used to make sure everyone had fun”
is an assumption based only on those who PvP for the same reasons you do. There has never been a universal agreement to terms in a tavern Brawl, as you should know if you frequent them often.

I don’t expect you to drop any of your ideas about how to go about making your PvP experience more fun, or fairer. Good for you that you have managed to gather around you people of a similar mindset who PvP for similar goals. I take issue with the fact that your posts read as though you expect everyone who visits a brawl should share your goals. They do not, and they need not feel compelled to do so.
You may like to try some more of the instanced PvP areas, and arrange to meet others of your disposition there. You can implement your own house rules and have everyone agree to them. To expect the same of the brawling pit will cause you much more grief.

    Happy PvP-ing :-)

    Hey again

Sorry I wont let this die, but i committed to it when i made my first post.

Kahoun I do very much respect your opinion, and I think you addressed things that other people wouldnt have. I thank you for that. Also, my offer for you to join me in pvp was more as an observer then a challenge (altho im always up for one :P).OK lil more ranting then.

"I just wanted to inform some people that might care and encourage the pvp regulars to not only follow these once gentlemenlike terms, but to remind others to do the same."

That is straight out of my first post, I reposted because i feel like that part was overlooked. I did address to PvP regulars, because like I said before (forgive my constant repetition) When PvP regulars act like jerks they are taking away from their end game content.

This agreement that i speak of, is admittedly for people that want to take PvP seriously. This may sound bad but here goes. When I fight you, I want you to leave that fight thinking "That guy is just better than me" I will defend that by saying we all want to be good at what we do. I will also say that it is almost as enjoyable for me to get beat in the same manner.

This goal of mine is achieved by making fights fair, those that dont PvP much or arent interested in taking it seriously are not concern. My problem was never with Joe Blow and his guildies comin in and havin some fun, Im stictly talking about the competetive ones. The fact is (another snobby statement) people who arent regular pvpers rarely present a challenge in the first place, as my toon is specced for it and theres isnt.

Ya and im babbling and spouting info that is irrelevant....my apologies.
