I have been in some pugs that zerged quite nicely and even my very very casual guild get's up to some zergin on occasion.

In high to mid level pug land I'd say I see 3 classes of folks...

The Experts: They know their stuff, they know the quests and they get it done quick and easy.

The Decent: They are solid if not especialy impressive. They do better taking the quest slow and deliberate but can be relied on.

The Baggage: Folks that somehow havn't quite clued in that the way they play isn't working to well. They arn't hopeless or they wouldn't be that level but generaly the party is mostly carrying them on their back. Often they are nice folks, just for whatever reason they havn't paid close attention to what actualy works well in DDO and what doesn't.

I imagine from the forumns there is a mystical 4th group, but I just don't see them much in my travels.

The DDO Gods: They can solo elite quests and raids in minutes flat and put to shame any who they group with unless they too are dungeon gods.

Either these folks just keep to their guids (quite possible), are simply doing quests I don't often do (also quite possible) or they don't really exist and there is a bit more hot air than substance to some of them (probably at least a little bit true), of finaly they may not be all that much different from Experts when they arn't challenging themselves (the most likely explination I imagine.)

i think there is a fifth group which i am apart of they aere called the jesters: can play elite but they don't they love torture and torment of others. i love to sit there and watch a mob dance also love to charm monsters and let them battle to the death like a battle arena muahahaha. the jesters also prank many people such as dispell fighters when they are about to challenge a mummy, go into grease hallways before a major battle. feeblemind beholders or mindflayers and just watch them try to use there attacks, if you want more ideas just ask but i think most of you know how twisted i get in this game

I'm a roleplayer. I zerg on occasion. Stop trying to fit me into that narrow box you call your perceptions... and get away from my butterflies.

As long as you role play that you must hurry through the dungeon to save the butterflies from the Horde (or Swarm or whatever term the OP was aluding to)

dOOd, you have no clue how good it felt to run with you, Dorrik, 12 Black Roses, and some of the Drink and Be Merry folks in between all the pugging horrorawful ***** I've been through.

I'm finally into level 11... one more to get my Blade Barrier (1 level of Wizzy) and then I can start soloing again...

Oh... you have to hear about the pug I was on last night in TS, where the wizard that was leading the party instructed people to leave any extra loot / treasure they didn't want to the other cleric by name. I was like... umm... umm...

More Legion hatred I tell ya.

Scars added the turnip to our "love" list...

It was so funny, because "the" cleric (I say "the", because I was obviously not very good???) sent me a pvt tell apologizing. I was like... um... not your fault, it's that stOOpid %#%%$ wizzy that has raised my ire... etc... etc... Yea, he sends me a couple of tells trying to legitimize / apologize because he was trying to help the other cleric - his RL wife. I didn't respond because I just didn't feel like being me. I felt like telling him who I was (alts) and about our guild, but thought nah... he was prolly on his first toon and was in a nothing guild, so it just would have been a waste of time. I'll catch up with him if he ever gets to the higher levels and remind him of his little mistake he made regarding my little alt named Mistayke.

Good thing there were some other guys from Umber Hulks, Storm Lords and Rebellion or I would have just tore the fool apart right then and there and dropped.

    85K to level and counting....

I was gonna jump in that TS group last night...looked at the party mix and just didnt see much tankage... my cleric just didnt want the 9k xp that bad...maybe I was wrong but it had the look of a nightmare mix...no idea who the others in there were maybe all great players but usually I like to be familiar with 1 or 2 toons before jumping in the midnight TS run

Man, I've been so desperate trying to get my cleric to 13... been 3 weeks now... mostly on him than my other toons. It has caused me too much time and resources and hair from pulling out of my head.

I'm sure we all started as incapable as a lot of these newer players, but that is not what bothers me all that much.

What bothers me the most is when players have been playing for a while at least (level 10+ on avg) and don't know what they are doing and don't say anything until it's too late.

Oh hang on, it's the ignorant players who think the world completely revolves around them and don't realize how tight this server is becoming... yea, that's what bothers me most.

Oh no, it's many of my friends and excellent players that are now bored or frustrated with DDO and leaving for other games, while we backfill with these... you know... say it JRP...

I just can't hope enough that wizzy (muppet) gets to level 15 or 16 and happens to get onto a team I'm on, or better still, tries to join one... haha

Yeah I agree with Clay, you should have powerleveled with us along the way He does have a way of making it so much more of a breeze. Then you get such a slap in the face reality check when you pug otherwise lol.

Yea, I teamed with Clay and we did a 1/2 Legion group and then a full Legion group... did Crucible and Madstone hard in about an hour total time and picked up about 60K xp.

But yup... that's the problem. Then we all split up and pug again and it takes 3 days of playing to get that kinda xp.

I complain about pugging... but every once in a while you find a decent player or two out there and it makes in worthwhile... well... sorta.

Makes me think of when I was leveling my ranger. A bunch of us BoSS members decided to farm xp. We had room for a cleric, so we pugged one. After 2 hours of running in Gianthold (Madstone once, Crucible a bunch of times) we all had accumulated 80k+ xp. The cleric had a good laugh and said that it had taken her a few days to get her previous level and in the 2 hours we were grouped she had almost gotten her next one.
