Default OK Build Masters... AC Challange

I logged on Graff night last and was looking at ways to boost his dismal AC of 44. (Odd though last time I looked it was 49; I think the AC shown on the Inventory page is... funny sometimes)

Anyway here is the challange: Get Graff's standing AC into the 50's without named drops, raid loot, or buffs. Here is what you have to work with:

    Human 11 pal, 3clr, 2ftr
    +5 MFP (or +5 MBP)
    +5 MTower (or +5 Mheavy)
    20 Dex

Without named or raid items - from your OP stating that you have a 45 standing, I can presume that you have CE and Dodge already - I think the only thing you can do to increase your standing is:
+1 - Insight bonus from a Parrying Weapon
+5 - Protection +5 (ring, cloak or necklace)

This gives you a 51 standing AC

If you decide to chase named/raid loot, then these would help you:
Daggertooth Belt = +1 (limited by your tower shield) to your max dex
Chattering Ring = +3 dodge bonus
Seal of Earth = +3 Natural Armor
    Chaosgarde = +2 dodge bonus
Tier III Shroud Weapon = +4 Insight Bonus

Having all of these would give you a 63 standing AC

With Mod 7, you'll be able to add 1-2 more through alchemical rituals at the Stone of Change (at this point, we're unsure if it'll be 1 or 2 due to whether the alchemical bonus is to the shield stacks with the alchemical bonus on the armor)

edit: whoops - you said 44 which means you don't have dodge. Add Dodge and you'll be at 51 with a protection item and parrying weapon. If, however, you already have a Protection +5 item and no CE, then there's not a lot that can be done until you can get an 13 Int - if it's 10 or higher now, tomes are a possibility, if its 8-9, you're out of luck.

    10 Base
    13 Mithral Full Plate
    3 Dex Bonus
    5 CE
    3 AUra(Can go to 4, but I'm being generous)
    5 Protection
    2 Invader Ring
    9 Mithral Tower Sheild
    ---
    50

    That was easy

Nope, intel 8, No CE. Sporting a lovely +5 cloak of protection though.

With the exception of dodge, I think it is as good as it'll get. This is a stat dependant build so swapping out stat items (Graff has a +6 something hanging on just about every slot, waist, neck, wrist, hand, ring) is a tough choice.

I was hoping there was something I was overlooking... a trade secret if you will.

    Thanks for any input.

    Yeah.. CE.....

WHy woudl you build a toon thats concerned about AC WIthout it?

What IS your Dexterity? Youc an still get to 50, but that 25% less getting Hit from CE REALLY comes into factor in a true AC Build.

I would guess it's not a "true AC build", just a guy who'd rather not get hit all the time

Not to hijack the thread and all but I wanted Impaqt or someone else to comment on starting stats for a Pali - 32 point build. I know race has a bit to do with it so why not list them out. I for one prefer only dwarves, drow, and midgets but I bet there are others who would like to see a workup for the other races.

I would request that you leave off tomes to start since although +1 are common enough not everyone has a set of these lying around. If the build absolutely requires a tome then how about stating when it should be applied.
Axebiter, Cujo, Runeforge, Runefury, Runegoth, Runehealer, Runehamer, Runehorde, Runenight, Runesongs, Runezephyr
And the forgotten: Runeaura, Runedevourer, Herstinkie, Runewolf,
Caught somewhere between casual player and power gamer.

The only thing you can do is get a 3rd level of fighter and get the fighter armor mastery enhancement I, which will boost your AC in MFP by 1, a +5 protection item and chaosgarde bracers.

The daggertooth belt is not a raid item, but it IS named. Still, not very difficult to get, and if you do, then wear it and instead of getting fighter armor mastery, get fighter tower shield mastery I. With the belt and that enhancement, your AC increases by 2.

Other things you may or may not yet have: dodge, and combat expertise, the latter requiring a 13 int, so you may or may not need to invest in tomes to get it there.
Devs: Thanks for making Druids available to VIPs without the pack. This more than anything, has made me want to buy the pack.

There are SO many ways to go with a Paladin thats its hard to recomend A Universal Starting stat makeup. My ONLY Consistant advice for Palys is to NEVER EVER max out a Stat. Its just too Costly build wise.

Typical STR/AC Paly Might be (BAse 28pt Human for universal Point allocation)

    16 STR 10 Pts
    13 DEX 5 Pts
    13 CON 5 Pts
    12 INT 4 pts
    10 WIS 2 Pts
    10 CHR 2 Pts
with the 4 extra poitns for 32 going 2 CHR 1 Wis, 1 Int (So no tomes "Need" to be Used.)

For Ultra High Saves rather than AC

    16 STR 10 Pts
    10 DEX 2 Pts
    14 CON 6 Pts
    10 INT 2 pts
    10 WIS 2 Pts
    14 CHR 6 Pts
with the 4 extra poitns for 32 going 2 CHR .)

    Absolutely right.

The build concept was to substitue self-healing (max human recovery / pally dev, LOH, 800sp) for AC... which works well 'in the fray,' where aggro and damage is spread across a party (another tank). The concept falls apart when Graff IS the party (or what is left of it). It's a little tough getting away from multiple devils and whatnot; think end fight Running with the Devils (elite) and an overly enthusiastic Sorc. (ok, it's the teleport no error that presents the real problem... can't get away to heal) Sure G was the last one standing... for about 53 seconds.

So, combine the above, with a healty dose of AC envy, and I was trolling for a tip or two.

Devils/Orthons on Elite require 60 or more AC.... and In Devils, No degree of AC can save a Party wipe from Searing Lights the Eladrin throw if your not up to the challenge.
