Here's an idea...
since it may not be practical to have the system remember that you alrdy have pulled previous +3 Tome, of the type you dont desire.
Why not have the system check for any existing Inhirent bonus for the reward recipient. And if a match exist, have another window where you have the oppurtunity to trade another tome(binded) of better or equal value for the Tome you want. and Will only accept tomes that you already have an inhirent bonus of.
In addition, the system will only offer this opportunity on every other 20th run.
And only when the resulting random reward would normally award a Tome.
You know ... I have to laugh at the argument that it should be random because its D&D or follows the story line.
I have used and seen used that arguments for the very opposite purpose.
1) In D&D (aka a story line), you have person role playing the "quest giver". That person is usually sitting right there with you and is role playing a character that is conversing in person with your character. The DM may or may not role up a list of random items you can choose from. He may or may not present those items to you. But any role player worth the carbon they are made of will role play the scenario. The person probably wont offer you a halfling only shortsword if you are a human barbarian because that would be a waste of your time. If you said NO to everything else he offered ... he might .. but really ...
2) Many times in Role Playing, the reward is stated up front. "10,000 gold pieces to anyone who can slay the dangerous <insert monster here> that is plaguing the kingdom"
3) I dont know about you, but our DM tweaks even the random loot so there will be SOMETHING of interest in. If he knows you are looking for a +3 longsword and he rolls up a +3 kukri, well, longsword will probably end up in the loot anyway.
Now, all of these things apply to PnP. They do NOT apply to DDO. There is no DM rolling our loot, just a set of code. We can run the same quest over and over and over ... a DM would never let us do that ... at least not on a raid. Giant Caves maybe (big dumb giants and all) ... And of course, we arent told what our reward will be upfront.
Im not saying it should be one way or the other, but the arguments for keeping them random lean far more towards the "this is an MMO" than "this is a RPG".
That said, I would be all for a little less randomness from end rewards. These are characters we are interacting with for end rewards, not chests lying around with random loot. They should recognize certain things about you when making offers. Turbine has already added some of that and I thank them.
I wonder if that checkbox affects the 20th run loot choices. And would that be good or bad?
See, even the EULA says its a game and supposed to be fun.Originally Posted by EULA

It seems like in the original post redoubt was complaining about getting the same loot over and over from the end rewards. Well, what if they changed the end reward loot system to be similar to the chest looting system? Instead of having a list of party members to reassign your loot to why can't you have a drop down menu to reassign end rewards to the other characters on your account. Then, once you select that particular end reward, the item can be mailed to your alt much like the auction house mails to you? I'm sure this idea will get much criticism and ridicule, but i believe it would be a legitament solution.
