Default opinions on possible pit fiend beater

transmuting rapier of evil outsider bane, i know its not a greater bane but at least it give +2 to attack and an extra 2d6 to damage per hit so it is beter thaan a transmuting pure good, and rapier have a high crit chance so just curious what people think

Whats the + of the Rapier?

If its a +1, then a +4/5 Trans of PG might actually be better....

Either way its still a nice weapon to use ont he Fiend...

    I'd call it a Tier 3 beater.

Tier 1 = the best - holy silver greater evil outsider bane (or holy burst)
Tier 2 = excellent stuff - transmuting of greater bane, holy silver of bane, ultimate mineral greensteel
Tier 3 = OK stuff, nothing special - holy silver, transmuting of bane, holy or elemental bursting of greater bane (not suitable for elite at all due to DR 60)
Tier 4 = the weakest stuff you can use without it sucking - transmuting, silver of pure good, greater bane, holy or elemental bursting of bane, other greensteel weapons.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Key thing for Big red is unless you have one of a very small selection of wepaon the key thign is bypassign his DR, once your doign that it;s just average damage unless you having problems hitting (hard to do his ac is poo )

    IE a Rapier:
+3 Trans Ricous (very common) does 8.5 average Crit: 17
+4 trasmuting PG is doing 11 average damage Crit: 18.5
A +1 trans bain is doing 13.5 average damage Crit: 17.5
Sooo ti can coem down to how low numebrs your hittign on, since hes hard to miss the oen doign better damage on 13 numbers and less on 6 numbers is the winner IE thew bain wepaon will beat another oen thats not better then a +4 trans PG.

Still just a 2nd tier, I use a bloodstone too, doesn't make the weapon any better, just adds to crit damage.

I have a nearly identical shortbow, +4 transmuting sb of greater lawful outsider bane (rr human i think), will work wonders with my elven 6 ranger/10 barb while raged and multishotting (40ish strength and 4 arrows, elven damage enh, bloodstone).

I just wanted to point out one thing.. the Supreme Greensteel weapons of Lightning II will outdamage a Mineral II weapon... but only on normal setting of the quest.

    how?

    15 DR * 100 swings == 1500 damage reduced.

Lightning 2 is about a 600-650 point hit that procs about 1% of the time.

you still missing about 900-950 damage unless you just happen to roll a few 1's on a 1d100

    Mineral: Holy 2d6 + Slicing 1d4 + DR 15
Lightning: Holy 2d6 + Shock 1d6 + Shock Burst + Shock Blast + Lightning Strike

Oh, and Lightning Strike is NOT a 1% trigger rate.
