What I'd like to know is how, a new character that is under 20 seconds old, (just created) can log in, go anonymous (I go anonymous Immeadiatly on creation),No one around the island, run to trader skipp, take the fast way to the wavecrest, and before I can even fully load (2secs) into the wavecrest, I get a platspam tell. How is that even possible?

Thank you Tolero, hopefully one of my suggestions was taken. Don't allow a Delete button on trial accounts.

Sadly this would not help one single bit. Spammers dont type their spam into the client by hand, they use macro programs that assist them. The macro programs have no need for the backspace or delete keys at all.

Because your definition of "immediate" is pretty loose.

Spammers have programs that watch their incomming internet connection and capture data comming directly to their machine before the DDO client even gets it. The INSTANT you pop into game they get an update of their who list, long before you can get the UI open and go anon. So long before you're anon they have captured a change to the who list, flagged you as new (not on their spam list) added you to the list, and sent out a spam to you.

By the way, all this was done with ZERO human intervention. The spammers have bots that do all this automatically without them even being aware that it was done.

didnt they say they had some actions few mods back? turbine promised a lot but when it came to actual work done, we have yet to see as much as they promise. guild halls, etc was promised mod 7 or so it was implied but it never came, monks too a long time, druids.... god knows when. giving players a hint of what is coming is good, i dun deny that but when they arent implemented.....

If they can't delete characters they can be investigated when reports are made. I didn't get near the spam this weekend as I have in the past. Not sure what that means. However, I did get some plat spam. How did everyone else fair?

I thought you meant the delete key, not the ability to delete characters.

Not sure what removing character deletion would do... Turbine can track what accounts had what characters deleted so they are just as capable of investigation with or without this change.

This weekend was probably the sting effect, now wait for the next mod and give them a chance. The last time they specifically said "wait until the next mod, something is comming" we got the unconfirmed box and "delete all" which eliminated 99.99% of the nusence of junk mail from spammers.

I was having some good spam Friday afternoon but on Sat and Sun I only recieved a few spams. So whatever you did I think it slowed them down for a bit.

Maybe 1 every hour or so. Much better then every 5 minutes!

First, that is assuming everyone in game that comes to this thread has seen where Tolero has posted about a possible fix next mod.

I imagine you would love nothing more than to have no one complain about plat spammers/farmers ever again in the forums and yet we can AND we even have a thread dedicated to allowing us to vent. Since this thread has not been closed since she announced it, why would you suggest we not continue to discuss this issue here? Has this thread been closed or locked down yet? No. So I think people will still come here to complain or offer suggestions until then. Or until you start working for Turbine and get to decide these things.

Lorien, haven they promised us tons of other things which were never done? sting effect? we dun need 1 off solutions, we need more consistent efforts. just yesterday alone i recieved 14 tells in the space of 5 mins

In my experience, the plat tells have considerably dropped on weekend. The devs must be doubling their efforts to stop the tells in-game. We just have to wait for the next module to see how it goes.

According to my own experience, I have got no plat farmer tells since Friday. So, it may be too early to start celebrating, but I think we are on the right track. So good work

It's gone from one a minute to one an hour. WAY better.

Still, I hope for 100% removal someday. You try to immerse in the character, and the spams just pull you right out of that mode and jar you back into reality.

It was a long way to come but we are getting closer.Plat spam has diminished considerably and i no longer see names like jhslajkfkgsf when i get one.Seems they found a way to not allow these senseless names through anymore.Or something completely different.Either way,it works so it's great!

After playing quite a few hours this weekend any orange text that comes across I assume is a real tell now. I was actually surprised to see a plat spam on Sunday.
