But it seems that a certain group of nazi SS were named the black hand and the were involved with the nasty camp stuff

that didn't matter..I was identified as anti-semetic by a jewish player (was told this via e-mail) and was banned

that other player's 'bad feeling' was more important than the fact my toons name had NOTHING to do with
the SS

well, ive been struggling with the idea of dumping this game for quite some time now. with all the recent lag problems my decision was to ( yet again ) stick it out, mainly because I really wanted to roll a monk. This most recent "strategic" maneuver at the hands of Turbine has broken my will. To all my friends within The Free Companions, I bid you farewell. My account is up on May 10th and I WILL NOT resubscribe. During my time left here, I'll be sending mail to friends and yes, even random names I pick from whomever may be logged in at the time. I believe the DDO community has suffered way too long from way too much ********. Turbine has obviously decided to take a path self destruction and I no longer wish to be involved. Good luck to all, and for those who continue to play....I pity you

it sux big time. my guild could presumably fall into the same situation. Crimson Eagles is also the name of a mercenary band in a fantasy series in raymond e feist's books. some idiot could also do the same and report us.

question is, what is acceptable and what is not? i've sent an email to feist to inform him of the use of the name. is this considered acceptable?

It always sucks when I hear of this happening. From what I understand, it would take someone reporting the name for this to happen. Super lame. I don't know about any of you, but I used to play CoH/V and this kind of stuff was much more prominent there. You know someone got it when you saw "GenericHero10247". I understand it more for that game due to the Marvel lawsuit, but here? C'mon.

The things that happen when you are out of town. This is pretty dissappointing. If someone indeed did complain to a GM, wow how petty. The Free Companions were/are one of the best on Khyber bar none. We will change the name together and hopefully get over this but I cant feel but largely betrayed by the powers that be on this one.

More later when I get back into town around the 5th or so of May. To my guildies, hold on and we will figure something out. We have killed the content brutally for 2 years we cant let this get us down.

I got suckered into the 6 month subscription back when they ran the special. I haven't played the game in maybe 4 to 6 weeks now - just tired of the grind. Retardation like this is definitely not the way to encourage me to allow that next 6 month block to be charged.

It wasn't Turbine that reported your name, a player would have had to do that first. There are enough Driizzt and Drezzt Do'Turden's running around for it to be evident Turbine doesn't take action against a player or guild until it is reported.
Once reported Turbine doesn't reallly have much choice but to change it. I have seen the arguments that the term free companies has been around for hundreds of years but every player that comes onto these boards complaining about a name change always has some compelling reason (to them) why it shouldn't have been changed.
Personally I don't see much of a problem with the name and couldn't work out why it had been changed until someone mentioned Conan, however I can understand why Turbine changed it and why they can't allow it in game.
Yeah it sucks but it's the way of the world.

It isn't my guild. I just don't want to see the same thing happen to my guild. I would like to hear Turbine say that it ws in fact changed due to use in the Conan novels. The moment tha happens, I'll help launch a freaking campaign to show how ridiculous that is.

Let's open the batting with "The Rusty Nail". While this is the name of a common drink, it is also the name of a bar and restaurant in Vermont. Better change it, and fast! "The Phoenix Tavern" is also the name of a real world restaurant. I hope Turbine have permission for that one too.
