    Default Reporting Harassment

The in-game mail system works great, and the right-click reporting has the potential to work great, but I have one final addition to really help keep tells down. When a player reports another for harassment, perhaps the reported player should no longer be able to send tells while the report is being investigated. That way, when I report a character for spamming tells, they don't have a couple more minutes of sending tells while a GM gets to the ticket (by which time the offending player has normally logged off and deleted the character).

Additionally, when reported, that account should get an Unresolved Harassment Ticket if they log out before the issue is resolved. Maybe if an account gets 3 of these, that install of the game (most likely a 10-day trial) is disabled, meaning that the player would have to uninstall the game and then reinstall it (including repatching) before they could actually make any new characters to harass us some more. If a gold seller only gets to send about 6-10 tells for every hour or so of messing with the game, that would seriously impact the number of tells we get.

How says everyone else? It doesn't impact players in the game, it doesn't impact new players just trying the game, it just impacts people that are constantly annoying players trying to have fun.

Unfortunately that mechanic would open up griefing.

Just as an example: I don't like you, I am in a guild, you are not.

I get mad at you for (insert stupid action here). I file a harassment complaint. I ask my guildies to do the same. Your account gets temp banned immediately.

True. There has to be something that can be done though. I was taking a look at my toons last night and reported the same plat seller 6 times over a 45 minute stretch. Once on each toon.

    Default Griefing Weapon

While this would work very well for fighting spam tellers, it would also work very well for griefing. Somebody gets upset at me just 'cause they feel like being upset at somebody, and they get a couple of their buddies together and send in three harrassment reports, and now I can't play the game for several hours just because somebody felt like being a jerk. The other parts of your suggestion could be used in the same way to cause somewhat lesser levels of irritation.

I agree that something needs to be done to reduce plat farmers spamming everybody, but I don't think this is it.
Tip #71: '3d6' means three six-sided dice are being rolled. For example, when you see that a weapon does '2d4' damage, it means that two 4-sided dice are rolled for damage, for a damage range of 2-8. <--Too difficult to understand? Really?

And then the people that falsely reported harassment get banned from the game for doing so. And all the Unresolved Harassment Ticket means is that the player logged off before the ticket could be resolved as to whether they were actually harassing another player. It doesn't prevent a reported from playing the game. It's in place to help track people that get reported then log off before the issue is resolved (i.e., what gold sellers do). Granted, the reported player can't send tells, but is getting your own account banned worth shutting someone up for a few minutes that you have an argument with? I doubt it.

Could I at least have confirmed and unconfirmed tell types so I can decide whether or not to filter them in my chat windows?

Now there's one of the best suggestions I've ever heard! Friends and guildies are both automatically in confirmed, I assume?

Yeah, but remember, when you report something, you sign your name to it. I think it's a fairly safe bet that the tells you reported are also logged, maybe even with the text of the tell you reported. If the GMs look through the logs and don't find anything, you'll probably have some explaining to do and you'll probably be looking at a ban yourself. I think it's a pretty good idea, though you might want to increase the time. Maybe 10 reports withinin say 5 min, and a hold is placed on the account and the character is ported to a penaly box where a GM would have some questions for them. They would have a chance to make their case to the GM.
    I actually like this idea.
