So repeat them on higher difficulty levels for the XP instead of the favor. The more you reply to the myriad compromises about how unwilling you are to change a thing, the less support you're likely to get. To me, you're really coming across as thinking you're entitled to the reward others get without needing to earn it in the same manner. All because you want to solo better? Though it has increasingly more solo options, DDO isn't about soling... I guess you feel Turbine needs to change this to suit your play style as well. Sorry if I've come across as harsh, but I'm really getting tired of people thinking they're entitled to more and more just because they want it. Want does not equate entitlement.

no not harsh.. i guess you just reflect the fact that the games usual player has gone past my casual playing style.

well ill stop my whining and get back to running my lobie Dwarf solo in WW... after all my options at 12.27am friday morning are

I got 1750 favor when there was only about 1800 favor total in the whole darn game. (Close to it) I did everything except maybe 6 quests on elite. And back then you were only level 10. Nowadays its a cake walk to get 1750 (by comparison) And simply picking one char of yours to waltz through a bunch of quests with some 16's and get your favor is really easy. time consuming sure, but easy. If you wanted to spend an hour or two a week im certain anyone could get 1750 within a month tops.

This is a reward, not a right. And its not even that hard to attain.

And cause your toon that is there since the beginning he deserves a +3 tome, just because he is a veteran too? Come on, don't be lazy, do like everyone else is doing, or don't get it. If you think making 32 pts builds isnt worth taking some time accumulating your favor, then don't do it, that's it.

There is no PLAYER or CHARACTER rewards....your character do not receive anything, it is not a living being (I'm sorry if you didn't know), so YOU, the player, is rewarded with EVERY reward in the game, cause YOU are playing your character. If they change the way we get 32 pts builds, there will be ALOT of players who will be unhappy. I mean... Do you REALLY think, that because you there from a longer time, but are too lazy to do favor, you deserve it more than my 1 month noob guildie who has already unlocked it?

And by refusing to lvl over lvl 10, you are missing HALF of the game content, almost. And more than HALF the favor you can get.

And I do think that the favor system is working fine so far, we just need to add some rewards after 1750.

I dont understand why you want to get 1750 favor, so you can make a 32 point lowbie for soloactivity, yet you are complaining there are no parties to join?

I don't like to lead parties either, but sometimes, I have to, to achieve the goals I want to get to.

Another option for you, is to become involved in a guild. the help you can provide, and receive from a guild relationship in this game is tremendous, and fulfilling.

Unless you absolutey HATE conversing or interacting with people playing in MMOs at which point I'd say you'd be better off playing Oblivion, or NWN2, you have plenty of solo activity there, but no player rewards.

Like I said above, instead of asking the game to change it's existing rewards, suggest similar rewards that you think would be a good level of "achievement" according to your play style.

Wow you guys really do attack casual gamers and their approach to gaming. Considering other games offer veteran rewards, and some games are flat out based on subscription length, I don't think it would be too far off to give 32 pt builds to those that have been subbed for 2 years. And if you already are subbed for 2 years straight and have 32 point builds, you can get a magic hat that teleports you right in front of the Shroud once a day.

You could always do something original and FORM a group doing the quest you want to do. I've seen grouped formed with "women only" "newbies only" "no zerging" and various other tags. While its true that I'll use my capped characters to wander around in high level areas I also have a number of low level alts that I would like to get xp for in a casual way and have tried to join groups doing low level content. The problem is that often by the time I've gotten to a tavern and changed over to the alt the group is full and off on its adventure.

If you had asked for the a veteran reward that was original or interesting with the 32pnt build as a secondary reward I'm sure that a fair number of people would have been agreeing with you. But instead you asked for a veteran reward that was ONLY the 32pnt build and that would be useless to a really large portion of the player base.

I guess it also depends on the server you are on as some of them have completely different attitudes about these things. Its possible its just the way the player base on your sever is.

Actually Oronisi you have NO idea how nice a hat like that would be. Getting to Meridia currently requires you to bind there and then /death any time you want to go there in a reasonable amount of time. If you try and run there every time the spiders that are faster then a hasted barbarian will leave you beaten and bloody if not dead by the time you reach the entrance.

I think Spill is under the inpression that any quest above lvl 10 is long and difficult and he doesn't have the time to run it and that no one is willing to show him the ropes.

So, he's not going to venture into that content because he doesn't know it and feels intimidated by it.

What he doesn't realize is that if he puts up his own LFM... He can indicate that it's his first run and needs a guide. AND he might just find some new content that he might just actually enjoy.

It is not all time consuming and, trust me, it's A LOT more enjoyalbe than rerunning harbor quests over and over again.

Try something new. You're paying full price for the game, you might as well see all of it. That's all WE are saying.

Look at the new quests that they've added in the past 3 mods. How many of them are described as 'long' or 'very long'? I think that all of them have been (I may be wrong). When the quests take a substantial amount of time, it makes it difficult for a casual player (As the op appears to be since he can only play one night or so a week, if that, and maybe even less than an hour at a time) to complete those quests, especially if he doesn't want to zerg through them.

I don't know if offering the op a 32 point build is right or not, but I know that many other games give rewards based on subscription length, so why not DDO? Maybe he should have 3 more character slots or something? After all, he's paid more money to Turbine than I have and probably more money than most other players out there.

Oh, a meridia teleportation, while nice, was not the intention of my jest. I was poking fun at all the powergamers that have been running the Shroud nonstop for the last 2 months. It's a good quest...it's not that good.

Spill, I hear ya! DDO has become like the US economy - the "haves" have and want to keep from the "have nots". Many are missing your point of Character vs Player rewards - to many, the Character IS the Player [psychologically], so "rewards" that might be valued by another Player must [in their opinion] be gained by the other's Character. The Dev's made a stupid move by having favor unlock races/better builds instead of just gaining buffs, etc in game - at the time they did this, DDO was a quickly sinking ship and they desparately needed a way to retain subs. Now that they have plenty to keep players occupied [casuals especially], they could look at changing, but probably won't due to the SWG effect [high level characters' players quitting because an easier path to their status was created].

Maybe the next welcome back weekend could feature Monks AND 32 point builds!

I have been playing DDO since mod3. I now have 2 accounts with 32 pt builds unlocked on both. Sometimes I may play 40+ hours in a week.

I have yet to pull a WOP rapier.

I think turbine should give me one since I have put so much time into the game. Hell, I think I may have gained 15 lbs just from sitting around questing all day and night.... surely this makes me deserving of a freebie?

I did get that you were half joking about the port to the shroud as that quest has to be run ALOT to get any of the better rewards made but I still thought it would be a nice trinket to have. A veteran reward of a trinket to port to a variety of locations and the opening of 32pnt builds would not be something I would have a problem with. I do find Spills' attitude mildly insulting in the way he words things. We give him a large numbers of ways that he can get more out of his experience using the parameters he supplies and his response is that the game is obviously just made for the leet gamers now and that it has changed into something that he no longer has a place in. This is of course partially true. If I decide I don't have a place in a game and don't go out to try and find a place or explore the game as its made the I will never have a place in the game.

The game has a great deal more variety then when he started playing, he could try any of the new low level quests, most of which are fairly fast, he could join a group and just wander some of the explore areas or just find some people he enjoys being around and hang out. Instead he has made the decision that the game has changed into something different and that doing level appropriate quests that take about an hour is a "Grind" and that he does not want to do "Grinding" but still wants the rewards that were assigned to certain goals. He does not want to ask for new lower goals that he can try for he wants the nice high level goals instead.

I would say I would miss seeing him in game but he played so little in such a limited part of the game the only time I would ever have been likely to see him is if I happened to wander past him in the marketplace one day, if he ever even entered the marketplace.

Ok, well, I haven't read all the replies here, so I apologize in advance if I don't have the full discussion in my head.

But from the way I understand it, Spill, you don't like the Favor requirements for 32 point builds. . . While everyone else (Or, mostly everyone else, I should say--haven't read some replies) thinks you should just grind it out.

Instead of a "veteran award", here's a suggestion I've always had in my head.

There is a huuuuge gap between 400 and 1750 Favor, correct? 400 is relatively easy to get, while 1750 requires you to really go out of your way. . .

Now, what would people say if there was a reward in the middle of that? Say. . . 950 Favor, you were given 30-point builds? Yeah, it's a weird number, but it's a nice middle mark. It's not too high for a casual not to be able to reach, but not too low where the player can breeze through it all and have it. There would be no Tome with this or anything, though--it's just a middle ground for the 28 and 32 point builds.

I've always had that suggestion in my head because, well, there's always been that huge gap there. Something needs to go there. Perhaps a 30 point build that isn't too hard to get? In other words, a compromise?

(Apologies, again, if this has been said already or if I'm not understanding the discussion completely. )

Other games give rewards for playing a long time. I remember Ultima Online gave out awesome rewards solely based on account subscription time (The etereal mounts were a must have and the only way to get them was to have an active account for a certain amount of time). I don't think it would be a bad idea for DDO to have a similar type of reward (Maybe 32 point builds, maybe something else like your WoP rapier). Of course, if you had to have an active account for 24 months, starting up after mod3 means you probably wouldn't qualify for your reward... yet.

well from what u have posted about your play style 32 point builds is not that big of a loss, never really getting a guy over 10 and enjoying the process of lowbies and such. For that matter 32 point builds are not the end all and be all, i realize four stat points is four stat points but its not like u can get a 22 starting stat or anything. Since u don't have access to them u probably wanna play them that much more i suppose. Drow are actually better than 32 points builds as far as stat points go any how.

I think giving 32 pt builds as a veteran reward is a good idea. I am playing permadeath, and at the rate I am going, I wont even get close to 1750. If Turbine truly values all of their customers and thier varying playstyles, there should be some comprimise. Not sure how this does any harm to the people who earned it under the current system. We are all paying the same subscription fees here, and I have yet to hear one reasonable agrument that one play style is better than the other. So whats the big deal?
