i love just being a watcher. all you here "where is cali?" and me picking fights with mean monsters. i am having a tough time getting my gimped fighter into groups. i love watching a troll attempt to break through his ac.

I am a new palyer who has benefited from some good advice and generous gifts so I recently decided to do the same - never again!

I head to the harbour and see an obvious noob standing there. I approach him and ask if he needs any help, but he doesn't respnd. I figure he is having trouble with the interface so I just give him 1000 plat and a +1 sword and head on my way. A few minutes later I am in a quest and the noob sends me a tell offering to sell me plat for $5.99! I swear, if all the noobs are like fbjadfsg then there is no hope for this game.

Seriously though, thanks to all those who helped me out in the game.

Okay... that is just down right hilarious and sad at the same time.

Good on ya for trying to help a new player, but the first clue to a plat farmer is the name that doesn't make any sense / spelling, etc... and they hang out by the bar in the intro inn in the harbor.

Look for people actually running around in that area outside with names that actually mean / spell something.

I still don't believe in giving new players anything but advice... and since my advice is worth more than a bit of plat and items, it's a better deal.

Don't give up trying to help that easily.

Reminds me of an injured dog that I tried to help one time that almost bit my hand off. If I stopped caring to help animals, I wouldn't be donating cash on WSPA every chance I get.

As far as the first part goes, if you want to spend time taking items that generous people intend for new players, go right ahead. Did you know at most soup kitchens in RL, they don't check on your income? You could eat for free EVERY SINGLE DAY!

To address the second part, it seems that you are the one deciding that everyone should pull that first flaiming weapon from a chest. You are deciding that it hurts and doesn't help. It's just a game so 'earning' an item by pulling it from an imaginary chest vs having it given to you by an imaginary character....meh. A lot of people have never played PnP and thus don't give a rat's backside if a DM gave your Gnome Cleric uber loot back in the 80's.
