Default Frankenpally (a build by request)

This build is from Sigtrent's build request thread

    Build Name: Frankenpally
    Author: Sigfried Trent
    Requester: Xanstrollinoax
    Last Updated: 07/12/10

Key Words [Warforged, Paladin, TWF, DPS]

    Objectives
The requester wanted a Warforged TWF paladin wielding Kopesh. Multi class was ok, and he wanted decent saves and a workable ranged attack option. My first take was a paladin/ranger/fighter and all in all it wasn’t very good. Spreading out stats widely made for a mushy kind of psudo DPS character. This time around I wanted to make it playable and I think I managed that. He wanted no tomes so I take that as also meaning a 28pt build.

    Design
Paladin DPS is all about bonus damage and smites. Kopesh is great for smiting so that’s a good star, and TWF adds more chances to smite which is great. But warforged paladins have serious stat issues and adding TWF in with no times makes it even more challenging. The only stat it doesn’t want is Int.

Looking at smite itself, most of the damage is based on paladin level rather than charisma, which gives an attack bonus. Not really needing the attack bonus means we can just dump charisma. This means less save bonuses, and makes lay on hands pertty weak, but a warforged gets the power attack encement and dumping charisma lets us focus on strength/dex/con more. Wisdom only gets to 8 for starters and relies on a bonus item to allow casting, but it will give you the needed 14 for all spells you get access to.

Paladin is always short on enhancements so not having lay on hands or divine might actually doesn’t hurt all that much as we can shift those points to more HP and other DPS enhancements. Knight of the Chalice works fine here and bladesworn can crank the DPS up to 11 when you want it.

Saves are workable, better than a fighter or barb, but short of a more focused paladin. Still I think its taking advantage of paladin so thats good. For ranged I did nothing. Trying to really give a focus on it would hurt the build. That said this character can throw a mean returning hand axe and that is as much as most brute’s will every need.

    Play
As an all out DPS class you need to be aggressive and go for the kill. Try to avoid agroing more than you need to however since you are pretty easy to hit and hard to heal. One on one you should be fine as you can lay out massive damage, but one vs many you may get torn apart before you can drop all your foes. If running solo consider fearsome docents.

    Variations
You could switch out bladesworn for sovereign host to get some kind of effective heal. I toyed with it but decided to stick to the DPS angle. 32pts works well and tomes would really make the build into something first rate.

i took look and was wondering if u droped the fighter by 2 levels and went four levels of ranger, i realize u would loose weap spec but u would be getting rams might witch is +1 to hit +3 overall to damage, now u would only get that in 4 min increments but just a thought

i was thinking about something like this. i thought that a WF w/ its blanket immunities and a paladins immunes would go together well.

my idea was something more like WF paladin18/monk2.

    Str 16
    Dex 16
    Con 14
    Int 8
    Wis 8
    Chr 12

monk for the extra feats and evasion, as i would never otherwise drop pally 20 for nothing less than evasion.
i figure between the higher dex from going twf line anyways and bout a + 6 or so from charisma bonus at end game would make evasion more worth it.

    Smile Build

Hi ive been playing this game for months now but i was unable to build a success full player. everyone told me that my characters suck. I was wondering if you could build me a paladin. that kicks ass that is really good at soloing quest. I like weapons like bastard swords and Greatswords. weapons that kick ass but im willing to let those go for you to help me build this because i really dont know what i am doing. Also i love elves so i would totally like it to be of the elven race but if there is a btter race then just go with that. Also im f2p but i do spend money on here but i wont have more that i am able to spend until like the end of march beginning of april.

check out Junts paladin build guide - lots of useful and relevant information.

Elf w/ fachion or 2wf w/scimitars are nice choices if you wanted to keep the Elven heritage. Human or Drow would be more 'optimised', but really its up to you.
