    waited 15 minutes for a response from an ingame gm, and now its been 15 minutes since hes responded, supposedly spent "investigating the issue". just destroy the **** crystal for us and let us move on.

    Portal keepers too
    had 3 portal keepers come out of 1 portal all at the same time. And yes crystal at part 2 is hosed

    I think my point was more along the lines that they acknowledged receipt of the bug reports and let us know that.

    Does anyone even know what the fix was aimed at? We've assumed it was the Shroud crystals but I don't think I've seen them unbreakable.

    From the length of downtime Turbine takes to apply a patch to live servers, I suspect the process is insufficiently automated and requires attention from a human operator (copying files, merging databases, running this and that executable in the right order). That would mean the test server isn't updated as fast as it should be to catch these things soon enough to help.

    That would be a failure in system engineering. A CS game like this should have a compartmentalized server development, where high-level code like monster statistics and quest advancement scripts can be modified without a replacement (or even a restart) of the game engine and network code.

    Ideally, they could insert a replaced version of an individual quest without even interrupting other players using the server. It would be an atomic change at the quest door- the quest would stop letting people in until all current instances of that mission are released. Then the new version takes over the next time a party enters the zone.

    I was programming multiplayer games back in 1991 or whatever, and we already had the capability for discrete changes like that. Today, games like Second Life allow untrained users to add new content and behavior, and obviously without conflicting with the rest of the world. Of course, DDO would never need that degree of extreme flexibility, but a little effort in this area allows the developers and QA to accelerate the test cycle.

    1. Start using Risa as a test server again.

    To get folks to use it -
    Speed up Xp, 10x sounds good.


    To keep folks from making it their main server -
    Wipe it clean every few months



    2. ... Lose Mournlands as your final beta server. Hand picking the guys that evaluate you for your mistakes is foolish, did anyone in Turbine Q&A ever take business managment? How many did you pick that pointed out dumb things in the forums? How many that said nice things? Does the track record on stuff that has got past them need to be explained? You screw up with monks with AOC out there and its done, I hope someone in Turbine managment knows that.

    after 40 minutes of waiting, this is the response i got from ingame gm

We recommend that you take a moment to submit a formal bug report, which can be done from the REPORT A BUG tab found next to the NEW TICKET tab in the HELP area where you originally created this help request. Note that we request players submit their own bugs because the bug report process automatically gathers important player information such as character name, server name, character location in-game, character level, and more. Be sure to fully review the information at the top of the bug report form to understand how bug reports are handled.'
    (Tell): Victauvial tells you, 'Is there anything else I can help you with?

    if that was the answer i was going to get, i should have got it in less than 40 minutes.

    Dont run shroud its bugged and GMs are saying leave and file a report that they can't do a damm thing about the crystal

    Maybe that's part of the problem today. 99% of QA and 80% of developers assigned to Monks, so nobody plays around with other important feature changes.

    I bet all the QA guys were running in the desert jump-kicking gnolls.

    well, its been an hour since i turned in the ticket. havent even got so much as an ATTEMPT to rectify the situation or assuage our angst. also, no senior gm yet. got on after the patch to relax a bit before bed, but now its getting into my sleep time and shouldve already been done with the whole thing, but instead waiting on abyssmally weak customer service.

    Developers will make mistakes. I do not think that is the problem here.

    The problem is a hand picked group of testers on Mournlands being the only check before "Oops" like these occur on production servers. They ain't up to it, period. Anyone doubt that?

    Turbine needs Risa as a final test server with a LARGE population.

    They will only get that if they speed up XP. How many I wondor are testing all aspects of high level monks atm? Not enough I am sure is the answer.

    Bring back Risa, forget merging accounts from the other servers. Nuke all of Risa. Everyone starts new with 10 x xp, that will get a bunch of testing quick.

    In a month Nuke it again, keeps anyone from living on Risa

    It will get the testing done by folks who do not mind "Oops" in large enough numbers to matter.

    NO transports off Risa, or on.

    Make access to Risa based on so much favor on a toon on the other server or even ban test accounts on it.

    AOC is almost here, does Turbine really want to lauch Monks with the same kinds of "Oops" that happened today.

    It will if the same kind of testing occurs then as it did today. Something has to change.....
