Default Something should be done for those spamming lfm panel

It's against the rules,i find it really annoying to see "New guild" and "trading my 2 handed masterwork for a wounding puncturing rapier" garbage. When reported,GM's tell you it's considered under harassment yet they do nothing about it or very little to stop it.All the guilds that were created that fast imploded because well if you don't know who you invite, that happens. So i was just wondering how many of you are annoyed and what can be done to stop it seeing as what they are doing now is not enough.I make sure to report all of them,so if you were reported in the past, there is a huge chance i was the one.

    Signed,

    annoyed.

EDIT:If every idiot out there was to put a lfm up for trade, you'd spend an hour skimming lfm's to find one actually doing a quest.

Shouldnt be that hard to add a trading/advertising tab to the friends/who/guild/group window.

Usually I /tell the person doing the LFM that there is a marketplace available for trades/sales/offers. Some of the people I've contacted this way have said they had no clue, and only one of them has said that he knew about it, and was just wanting immediate results in-game rather than waiting for the forums. It annoys me to see the LFMs up there, but I imagine if you're really irritated at it, (and I don't know if this is against the rules) you could have your friends and guilders all click request to join, and each person send a single /tell saying INVITE ME! I should think that after about the 10th+ request/tell that they would get tired of scrolling and popups. I say single /tell because anything more from an individual could be considered harrassment. It's using the LFM as it's designed to thwart misuse of it.

because ignoring them or quietly reporting them is just to much? You have to bring the same old boring drama to the boards?

Drama? I didnt read any drama in his post. He simply brought up that many people choose to ignore Turbines policy against this. The Drama on this old horse seems to come from folks who choose to use the LFM's for something other than its stated purpose who come to the forums and flame anyone for pointing out that they are using the LFM's improperly.

Lets clarify a little; YOU got banned because of YOUR behavior not because of anything anybody else did. You knowingly broke a rule that Turbine has and you blame someoen else for you getting caught.

Actually, what is wrong (among a million other things) with America is people who break the rules and then scream and cry that its not fair that they get caught. Dont want to get in trouble for breaking the rules? Simple, Dont break the rules.

Hmmm... I was going to quote you again where you scream and called the OP a LIAR about saying that if we dont stop it we could have to look through 100 LFMs for a group because they all are filled with LFM's selling items. Weird, I had seen and quoted that statement from you but the forums went down for mainteance and when it came back, your post was gone!

Anyway, the point I was going to reinforce was that most of the negative screaming and crying that goes on in this discussion is from people who feel that it is ok to post in LFM's even though Turbine has explicitly stated repeatedly that it is forbidden and corrective actions may be taken against those who post non LFM info in the LFM panel. Period. You can complain that its not fair all you want but people should not be posting trades and such in the LFM and if they do, they are breaking Turbines rules.

Whether you feel this is fair or you should be able to post in the LFM's is irrelevant.

In the distant past I was very involved in a debate/discussion/screamfest on this same old discussion. At one time, this did bother me but I have long since stopped caring about it. I cannot convince those who believe its OK to break the rules and no one should ever be able to point this out to them. This is what truly bothers me about this discussion. I really dont care (I do but I can ignore it and sleep at night) that people are using the LFM inappropraitly but what drives me to insanity is the BALLS on these same people to complain that others dont like them breaking the rules so they should just SHUT UP!!

I think Turbine should offer a seperate chat/trade panel for this activity but I dont believe they EVER will based on the same info mentioned above; Turbine WANTS to suck plat/gold out of the game and allowing an easy way for people to trade items cuts them out of the equation. The forums trades are different for two main reasons: 1) the forum trade area has been around since the begining and the Auction was added over a year later and 2) approx 10% of population reads forums so a possible majority never sees the trades on the forum.

The LFMs never bother me. It is a player response to a needed feature. There are never more than a few up at a time. I recognize that they are against the rules.

Here's a solution - devs add level 0 to the window. Require LFMs to be posted as Level 0. Have default not display level 0. Don't want to see it? No problem. Want to post? No problem.

I would never report someone as harassment for the LFMs as long as they don't spam/PM, but that's just me.

The trade forums are not a very efficient way to trade. It is outside of the game. It can take several rounds of e-mails to get a deal agreed to. Then you need to meet up with the person, sometimes taking days or a week later.

I'd love a way to clear out a LFM that you don't want to see. I hate trying to find a LFM at lvl 15-16 and there's 4-5 at the top that are trade ones or low level intellectually challenged types that have selected lvls 1-16 to do WW, the Catacombs or Deleras (no, they're not favor runs). If there's a way to get rid of them, please tell me. That's what I find most annoying about the 'trade' ones. They're taking up space and are in the way, especially when combined with those that don't know enough to select an appropriate level for their group in the LFM.

I just /tell the person that it's against the rules and that they can be reported (of course, they imediately think that I've reported them at that point, but I haven't, I swear). I know several people who do report it because it is against the rules. Often, the people doing it have no clue it's against the rules because they never read them to begin with... But anyway, I warn them and let them make their choice. Of course, if it's still up 30 minutes after I've warned them, I don't feel much pity anymore.

The funniest I saw was a guy trying to trade a paralyzing crossbow for 5-7million gold cause they needed money. I told em it was against the rules and he responded with "but I really need the money, do you want to buy it?" I laughed and said no way. The post came down.

    Default I'm with you,,, but

I don't like seeing it myself either, but the ads are usually not up long enough for the person ever to recieve a warning I would think and I doubt turbine would want to create a trade channel as part of the UI for party creation as this would cut into the lovely 30% of the plat that gets removed from the economy with every sale on the AH..

I may see an average of one when I look at the LFM screen...not enough for me to give it a second thought really.

Seriously, I'm on almost every night and have never seen more than 2 or 3 at a time.

If it got up to 20 or more at a time, I would agree, it's time for Turbine to come up with a mechanic for these people to make these posts, apart from the "real" lfm's.
