    Default quivering for quivers

i love some of the new content for mod 7 , but i was wondering if we are ever going to be able to examine another character to see what items they have etc. i think we should be able to see the types of weaps and equip that a player is wearing at the time of examination. we should be able to see what the plus is etc. i was wondering if seeing the other person's stats would even be acceptable or do people want to keep that part secret?

I hope not. I can see the elitists now booting someone from a group if they don't pass inspection.

Well considering we shouldn't even automatically know what our own items are I can't see being able to tell what someone else's is.

PnP nonsense. I do agree that this would cause alot of grief rather than be helpful in any way............

Or a way to add more useful skills and bleed excess money out of the economy for magic item identification. It's not PnP nonsense, it's DnD.

well said! detect magic was once used to find out the magical aura of an item, or by having the retainer test the item, or having a high lvl NPC mage to identify it

    mmmmm quivers...
Being able to see what types of items people have(this person is using a bastard sword) might be acceptable, but not the details of the weapons or equipment. The most you should be able to see is a particle effect on various pieces of equipment. Many people since before launch have wanted cloaks to be visible on characters, and that sort of thing.

You could SEE if someone has a quiver, or has extra bags to hold their stuff in(if not in the backpack), but you wouldn't know what was in these containers. You could see(or mages could sense) if someone is using a magic sword, and things like that, but you wouldn't know what the abilities of the item are. So, knowing the bonuses I say "no" to.

Knowing the stats of others or even your own character is something that I generally don't like, because it takes away from playing your character. Think about it, when you are playing, do you really CARE what your stats are while in a fight? The only times when the exact numbers come in handy is when you know(from having done the quest previously) that you need an 18 int to use a given rune, and if you have a 16 you MIGHT be able to get to the 18 you need to use it. So, if I don't even like that we can see our own stats, it's obvious that I hate the idea of players knowing the stats of others.

Magic on the other hand, might show things like what sort of resistances a player has, except the game already tells you these things. I really wish that Turbine had included the identify spell in this game, and that items found start off unidentified until inspected by someone with the ability to identify the item for you(or via a scroll).

The last thing I want is people looking in my backpack and pestering me endlessly if they find something they want to trade for.

interesting points made against. i'm not sure it would be as bad as some say, but ya never know. i definately think you should be able to see cloaks, goggles and boots in the animation. i don't think things in packs should be seen on an inspection since they are concealed but armour and cloaks etc. should be able to be inspected. i doubt people are going to look at others garb then ask for it. i also wish you could show people your green steel items. we should at least be able to put it in the trade window to show, but not be able to trade, of course.

Having run with more than a few azzhatz.... who question every move you make, ask you why you took 'x' levels of 'x' class.... I think it would be a nightmare to have people looking at your stats, items, etc.

Not to mention having "Short" ask you ... "Are you gonna use that?"

If your on Argo.... you know...

And while this game is based on D&D, it's not D&D. I will not debate this fact. Some things were included, some were left out. In PnP, there are very good reasons, from a role playing standpoint, why players would not know what weapons/items are until they are identified (cursed weapons come to mind as a great example), however in DDO most if not all of these reasons are Moot. Picking up an unknown weapon would only matter for the current quest, as everyone would have them identified immediately after the quest ended. In PnP, You could go many weeks of game sessions in real time between towns before You could get items identified. It makes sense for D&D, It does not make sense for DDO.
