Okay, you're in part four of the shroud, and the big baddie pit fiend appears in an explosion of fire, etc. etc. Jo Schmo Fighter summons Rocky to help beat on the boss, and Squish ERanger summons a kitty, who charges the pit fiend only to take a fireball to the face... a fireball aimed at the clerics.

A caster is running with a group through Kobold's new Ring Leader on elite... he charms half the quest, and by the time they get to the ogre, they've got a charmy at their side. (Much to the dismay of the fighters who want to kill everything). The charmy rushes in and takes a brutal amount of damage while everyone beats on the ogre.

Cannon fodder. We forget the meaning of it some days.

When monsters have to make 40 rolls to save vs mummy despair, even with uber will saves most of them are going to roll a 1 eventually.

Heightened command undead to keep them in line.

Just cost's gp to do it though. I still carry a minimum of 10-20 Create Undead scrolls for emergencies. Mummies make wonderful gifts for your teammates ( non-PUG of course) when things are going "too easy" and you wish to add some "excitement".
