I traded a + 2 dex tome for a pair a few days ago.
Just to give you an idea of the value. I probably gave the guy a good deal by giving him my + 2 tome however who knows.

IMHO ethereal bracers > +2 tome, by far.
Edit: to the OP: I'll give you a +2 Wis or +2 Cha tome for it

I'm sure that neither of us care. Still not sure as to which one of us you are suggesting got the rappage.
I think you guys maybe over-valuing them if you're saying they are worth way more then a + 2 tome. That's like 800 K ish plat.
How often do you fight incorpreal undead ? Almost never. How much extra damage do you get form your greater undead bane weapon by wearing these bracers versus not wearing them ? 10.5 damage per hit.
As far as the 1 ac, 1 to saves goes.... that's about equal to a pair of chaosblades imo... ya lose 1 to saves and gain 1 to ac....
How often do you use a + 2 tome ? From the moment you log on, to the moment you log off.
Then you have to look at rarity. A while back Dolfa, one of my guildies, got 3 of them in two weeks. *shrug*
I still think that the bracers are worth a lot though. Which is why I had no qualms for tradding the tome for them.
Sorry I still believe these are worth more than a +2 tome. If you look at the vale dude +2 tomes have been dropping like candy.
Hey this is my opinion and yours is different o well.

I did the trade because I've known Drith for a while and was not using them at all. the guy who was wearing them has dual GT disrupting maces to play with and my main uses the phase hammer. They really were of no use to me and he needed/wanted them. Plus despite having been a heavy raider and end game player since the first Velah kill on the server (I got hooked that night) I still have only pulled 8 tomes total all +1s except th3 +3 str Shin snagged in the Reaver a while back. A trade is good if both people walk away happy regardless of separate values and I had my Guinness in front of me so my happiness was guaranteed.
And now I do not feel so bad for wanting to mock his poor Titan loot luck.

The thread is gone now. I don't plan to rehash it anymore than saying this:
There is a difference between walking away happy for a moment due to ignorance, but then turning around and going oh ****, I got ripped off! VS knowing the value of something and trading anyway OR being happy with the trade irrespective of what other people say.
Someone trading thier w/p rapier for a +2 tome to a stranger is probably going to turn around and go oh **** when he talks to his friends/guildies/looks at the forums
whereas, shin trading to drith is one big happy love fest. And in the case of shin vs drith, drith wasn't trying to get a deal or get lucky because in his mind it was a fair trade. And that's different than referring to a trade scenario as too good to be true.
****back on topic****
Foxracing74, do you have a want list?

I would say someone making that offer is either
a) feeling generous
b) ignorant of value
c) indifferent to value
d) trying to trick someone
e) friends with whoever they made the offer to
I don't believe just because something is offered then it's no holds barred trade ggoogogo! And I don't believe that someone will remain happy if you "give them what they ask for" in all cases. If you think they're undervaluing something to an extreme degree, then it's a little kinder to talk to them about it.
Eriik is a good guy and I believe he would have talked to the LFM trader had they shown up, but the LFM trader may not have known that. So calling the LFM trader out and being angry at him is not so black and white if in his mind he was interacting with someone who was willing to rip him off (there was no conversation before hand, so the LFM trader may have thought this). The point I was trying to make had more to do with that than "jumping all over Eriik saying that a fair trade was only one of equal value" as JFeenstra put it. I really am sorry to rehash this, but if people are going to refer to what some of us were trying to say then there should be no confusion.
I'm sorry! *hugs*
