    Default Help with Tank build.

I need a 32 pt. build tank. I would prefer a straight fighter but am willing to listen to suggestions. I want to be able to hold aggro and have a good AC/Saves. Primarily I want the toon strenghth based, I have a +2 str tome I will use on him at the start so I want a toon with max str with the above characteristics, I've never done a fighter so lets hear it. What can I do with my first 32 pt. tank and a +2 str tome, don't count on any other tomes, just the str tome, nor any uber items. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I have a variation of Maldini's Timex Tank build. Riott also has a good tank build out there as well.

Having max STR is more of a DPS build, so if you start off with max STR it could hurt other areas of your build (6 abiliity points to raise STR from 16 to 18).

The basic tank build that you're describing is:

    Hold Aggro = Max Intimidate
Good Saves = Splash 3 or so levels of Pally
Good AC = Combat Expertise? Start w/13 INT or 12 w/+1 Tome (my personal feeling is to start w/14 INT to get the bonus to skill pts.)
    Go Fighter for the rest.

And don't forget Borror0's tank build. Take a look in the fighter forum, you'll find several options to get you started. In addition to what the poster above mentioned, here's some things to think about for stats.

Str: Need to be able to hit stuff. Intimidate works for 6 seconds out of every 10 and if you can't hit anything, you won't be able to hold aggro when intimidate is off. Not to mention the stuff that can't be intimidated.
Dex: Doesn't have to be sky-high, but you need some for extra AC, as you'll likely take fighter's and/or dwarven armor mastery
    Con: obviously
Int: 13 is enough for combat expertise. I personally don't think 14 is necessary, since fighters' skills aren't that exciting. Might be worth it if you want to try to get UMD up enough to use rr equipment
    Wis: Not terribly important
Cha: Add your cha bonus for saves by taking two levels of paladin. Can also shore up your will save by taking force of personality.

Don't go for max Str on a Intimitank build, you'll hurt yourself more than anything. You could gain more from those 3 pts, +1 to damage isn't the end of the world. You'll not become a DPS machine since your base Str was 18 or you won't become a gimp because you had 16 Str.

As for the no tomes, +1s are pretty cheap now. If you can afford a +1 Int, take a look at my build. Might give you ideas.

let me change the question, whats the best way for me to take advantage of the +2 str tome and a 32 pt build that i'm about to unlock>> looking for a tank generally but a killer is fine as well something along those lines, i've done the cleric/sorc/wiz route and want to try something different. A build with no uber items nor any additional tomes required.
