Undead is a good choice, but my opinion is that Giants is a better first choice.

Ogres and trolls are giants. Those Elite Ogres in the harbor are giants....and those are the most dangerous thing you will face at low lvls. And it's even worse at mid lvls when everything is an Ogre or Troll. Then Gianhold.

I think Undead should be a second choice. And then afre lvl 12 you can pick up Evil Outsiders. You can also respect your FE when you feel you are fighting certain types more often.

If you're capped, and all you do is the same high end raids over and over again, than respect for Constructs.
I gave up a life of farming to become an Adventurer.

    3. Construct - helps offset some of the loss in damage for being unable to critical

    4. Undead - same as number 3

A case could be made for Aberrations given the newest mod.
Good job in cornering the Dragon Shard market.

    My Ranger Used;

Undead(Cannot Be Crit, And Also Most Have DR/Bludgeon Or Slash Vs. Traditionally Spec'd Peirce/Slash Rangers)

    Evil Outsiders(Obvious)

    Constructs(Cannot Be Crit ")

Elementals(Cannot Be Crit ") *Are Common Throughout All Lvls Aswell

Abberations(Because They Typically Have DR And Are Quite Dangerous If Not Dispatched Quickly)

I'm fairly sure that fiendish creatures stay their base type and pick up a subtype of * Outsider, normally evil. If you look at a kobold in the harbor their info normally says

    Kobold
    Kobold

The trogs in the Shroud are something like

    Troglodyte
    Evil Outsider

I kind of find this talk of which is best and switching them out kind of amusing. I picked my Favored enemies because I HATE them. Not because it helps me more in the game. When I first started Undead seemed obvious, those skeletons in quest for daggers are were a real pain to hit or hurt. After level 2 the number one thing to kill me for a couple levels were ogres and trolls so I decided I did not like them and checked their type and took the FE to match. 3rd favored was Constructs because they had a tendency to break my weapons and I really did not like missing or doing no dmg to them as well. When I was finally able to take my 4th favored I picked evil outsider, not because all the new content was evil outsiders but because I have a real grudge against those **** flensers and reavers in Invaders and the Therenal series of quests. When I finally get my 5th FE I'll probably take aberation because I dislike things that eat my brain when they get a lucky roll and those beholders have gotten me several times and need to die.

    Preferably in LARGE numbers.

Btw I don't plan to take elementals because they are not really a threat to me. I laugh at fire elemental attacks and since I got FoM earth elementals are a joke. Air are still a little annoying but there are so few of them I don't see a point in taking a feat just to kill them. I can solo the fire elemental in Shroud 2 without any real help just using a random bow. I don't need any outside healing with him and it might take me a couple minutes but he will die without putting me under any real threat.

I've got undead, giant, construt, and evil outsider myself. Yes, I've been running shroud, but once I stop I'll probalby ditch construct, and honestly all of the talk has been making me double think giant for aberration now.
