Default Blind Invite Got me... Grrrrr.....

Last night Soloing on my new ROgue build in Cerulean Hills I got a Blind Invite...... Normally, THese dont bug me too much. I politely reply that I'm not looking for a group and that most people find blind invites rude.

Last Night I was in the middle of about 6 Fiendish lions when the Invite Popped up on the screen....

Why cant we simply have a Auto Decline If we are currently in an Instanced Quest or Area?

Group Leader: We need a Rogue.. Oh theres on inthe List not Grouped... Blind Invite: Pokah
Your Invite has been Declined because Pokah is currently in a Quest.

    Rather than
Group Leader: We need a Rogue.. Oh theres on in the List not Grouped... Blind Invite: Pokah
    -30 Seconds go by-
    Pokah has Declined your request
{Pokah Tells you}: Thanks, You just got me Killed. Blind Invites are Extremely rude. I was soloing a quest when your invite box poped up and stopped all my controls from operating.
    /Squeltch <Group Leader>

Now, I'll Probobly Unsquelch him tonight..... I certainly didnt want to get overly Rude to what I assume is a new player...... But man, that got me goin.....

I think in the options screen there is a way to turn off the recieving of the invites. Granted its a blanket turn off but its an option.

There is one to turn off group invites in the UI. However, it would be a hassle to turn it off and on if you only want it on while inside quests. Having another option to allow invites only while in public areas seems like a good idea.

Kinda funny. Had a guy decline me from a shroud raid a week or two ago becasue I DID send him a /t first, when I asked why, he said "because you asked". After further investigation its was determined he was just an ******* though. Prefer a /t myself...

That's funny, because I get a little annoyed when I set up an LFM, and someone asks if they can join and yet don't actually request to join the party. More annoying is when someone does send a join request, but after a minute sends me a tell asking if I need them. Maybe I just get annoyed easily.

Anyway, some feature to disable group invites while currently in a quest would be nice when soloing.

WHen someone sends you a Tell to Join you can simply Click on their name and Invite them now. I'll send a tell sometimes when my Character might not actually fit exactly what they are looking for.

AS for letting people sit in the Request Que for over a Minute... I find that pretty annoying.... If I'm looking for a group and click Join I find it common courtesy to Approve or Deny my request in a timely manner.... Letting someone sit in the que is simply saying "I'm gonna wait to see if somthig better comes along" while they could be moving on to something else. Theres no way to Retract a Request To join once made.... So if I'm Sitting in Someones Que too long I could easily miss out on another group because I'm trying to be courteous to the first group i applied for.

Well, generally though, sending a tell doesn't let me know what their build makeup might be, or what guild they belong to. If it's a name I don't recognize, I kinda like to know those 2 things before sending an invite.

Most of the times I let someone sit in the que for a lengthy amount of time is when I'm trying to build a raid group and a dozen people are sending me join requests. Sometimes it's also b/c I'm waiting for some party members to switch characters around to know exactly what we might need for the last couple of spots. Knowing though that the person might be waiting for an answer till they try to join another group, I'll try to be quicker about accepting or declining in the future.

    Yeah, all kinds.

Usually request on the LFM then follow it up immediately with a tell. People can be pretty testy it would seem. I too like people to just hit request on the LFM because I dont really care who i bring, seems kinda silly to get annoyed but who am I to judge.

IF im soloing for favor or w/e I usually just go anon, no worries then.

It does get annoying sitting in the queue when your trying to join a group, but having been on the other end, sometimes when I have an LFM up, several requests can come in suddenly and it's difficult to manage for a few moments. I may be trying to accept a join request and another pops up and moves the person i was trying to select down the list, etc... So I have unintentionally had people sit there wating for a reply while a get my act together. Doh!

I probably know his main, alts, guild and preferred online times(over 60 hours a week on DDO), and have them all squelched. There are about 11 people like this on Argo, and most of them belong to the same reclusive guild.

A /tell is common courtesy. If I can't land a party member with an LFM, I sent people /tells from the Who tab asking them if they want to run something. Now thanks to the location descriptor I tend to apologize for bothering someone in a quest as well if I send them a tell in a non public area. I expect this of everyone on Argonessen.

Then again I am usually Anonymous, so don't typically get blinds.

Just go anon if your planning on soloing for along time.

ANon DOesnt solve the problem..... A /Tell DOesnt cause any Problem at all.... Its the Accept/Decline Confirmation box. I can quite easily Negotiate a Trade, Chat with a Buddy, Or plan my next quest over /Tells while in a Quest......

Two clicks in the UI options -- one for guild invites, and one for party invites. Once ya see where they are, it's really fast and easy to check/uncheck them.
Or clicking over to anon, as was already mentioned cuts down on blinds, too.

Impaqt: Apparently I'm not the only person with blind invite issues...

Now hopefully the UI guys can do this.
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

    Default No more blind invites

I am known to get rude when someone sends me a blind invite. Most of us are quite capable of looking at the LFM and deciding if we want to join a group listed there. It does not matter if they are in a quest or not, blind inviting people, especially those that don't know you is rude. I have even told guildies not to blind invite me. Send a tell if you know me and have a group not up on LFM that you want me to join, kewl, blind invite, decline and maybe a comment on how to use LFM's or tells.
