It’s a beautiful sunset in Vale of Twilight full of purples and blues and yellows and reds. In the distance, Meridia, and further back the ruins and even further, the far hills. Modiuz von Mergentheim, Wizard 16th Rank stands atop the Vista admiring one of the most breathtaking panoramas in all of Eberron. He is thinking back to near a month ago when he sat on this very same remote overlook with the love of his life, Valya Penrose, Paladin Extraordinaire. At that dinner they shared one of every cookie and cake that the Jester had gifted to them over the past two Festivus seasons. After eating, both then summoned the Djinn together and laughed at all the silliness. Then holding hands and donning their Mummied Bat Wings, they jumped off the cliff to float one last time together into the Lake’s crystal clear embrace. Landing in the lake, Valya gave Modiusz one last kiss and disappeared off the face of Eberron, never to be seen again.
It has been a month since that day, and life has not been quite as bright. Of late it has been harder to crack open the spellbook and gird for battle. Over two years has passed since moving to Eberron from Norrath. A time filled with wonderful sights, great battles, spectacular defeats, and good friends.
So at sunset today did Modiusz make one final climb back up to that particular Vista in the Vale of Twilight. Once there he laid out a blanket, sat and once again began savoring cookies and cakes, with each one, toasting a favorite memory of an adventure or a person. Runs like The Pit, Relic, Deleras, Wizard King, Stormcleave, Demon Queen, Twilight Forge, the Dragons. Good friends and great guilds. Such as his first guild, Lost Legends, and friends such as Zeth, Geist, Pympen, and all the others who made Lost Legends a second home. Being an Officer in Lost Legends was a highpoint in his time on Eberron. A warm smile then passes his face while reflecting on his current home, the Guild Exodus and the friends from there. Here’s a special cookie to you Thriand and Bornwinter.
Brushing off crumbs, Modiusz carefully wraps his well-used spellbook in his prized Black Dragon Robe. With the last vestiges of the marvelous sunset reflecting off his bald head, and with a lone tear rolling down his thin purple Drowish face., he leaps suddenly off the vista shouting,
“Thank you to all for such wonderful memories!”
Just as Modiusz hits the lake, he disappears from Eberron.
Forever? Who knows what the future brings.
