just curious, how many people know about being teleported to the harbor on occasion if you d/c in the shroud?

because apparently this isn't a known issue, at least according to the gms that look after thelanis

Has happened to me on 3-4 occasions.

Definitely should be considered a known issue, and the 3rd most important thing to fix in the Shroud.

Its the same when you recall or DC, most people take Ddoors to avoid it.

But I'd hope it just gets fixxed

its only a gameplay issue when you d/c, as it stops you from being able to finish the quest

It's especially bad as disconnects due to lag in part 1 are not all that uncommon, and when you log back on, it's the lottery of 'have I been booted and will this wreck my run and possibly the whole groups?'

Just when you DC? Used to be whenever you recalled, you'd end up in the harbor. Been an awful long time since I recalled outta the Shroud, so maybe they partially fixed it. Similar thing used to happen in the Vale quests (if you recall twice, you don't end up in Merdia), but maybe they fixed that too.

Regardless, both issues should be known...and never trust anything but a senior GM (but you'll sometimes even get mixed answers from them).

Edit: I see ya mean on a quick disconnect, I've heard people claim that, but I have NEVER seen it unless people are gone over 5 minutes (and even then, it's a **** shoot - I've seen people not get booted after being dc'd for 10 minutes). That always kinda sucks...but Merdia, Harbor...kinda all the same if you can't get back in anyway, right. They should fix the Shroud being tied to the harbor though. The DC and booted thing is nothing new, sadly.

no, you still recall to the harbor as well, but i'm specifically talking about the d/c issue as its something you can't prevent from happening which ruins the quest

gms should at least know about the issue and be able to say something more than 'that is not a known issue' and 'there is nothing we can do about the problem'

i was talking to not one, but TWO today who didn't even know what the issue was and would NOT teleport me to my party...teleported me around in a circle (so i was facing the other way) after I said i was stuck so they do have the power to move characters and should be able to fix this

Perhaps preventing people from re-entering the shroud after they DC in certain ways is intended, which is why the GMs don't call it a known issue?

But I've rebooted in the shroud before, more than once, and I've always loaded up right back in the quest.

I've never lost connection due to lag though.

Maybe it's timer based? When I reboot, my toon remains standing in the quest and is still there by the time I'm back in windows. It's usually out of the game for less than half a minute. I've ended up in town after rebooting during quests in the vale though (but very rare).

wasn't even due to lag today, the game crashed due to a game error (that was the message i got) and i was booted to the harbor

As the Devs reading this forum can see, it is a GAME BREAKING ISSUE.

I really hope they fix this asap.

It can and does happen in all the raids, well except for Tempest Spine, Im not sure about that one. But I have personally seen it happen in the Titan, DQ, Von 6, and The Shroud. Not all the time seems to be about a 33% chance or so.... It is frustrating....

happens to me about half the time. the best case scenario is to loose all my buffs and zone back in a few mins later. the shroud causes ddo to crash a lot for me, so I see this a lot.

This is a lame bug.... happens to me about half the time also. I also have an old pc that i cannot upgrade atm. I just love crashing right when the party arrives at a chest and knowing i just lost said chest... To me these two issues are related..

Did you bug report it? Has everyone who's had it happen to them bug reported it? Cause...ya see...coming HERE and complaining about the situation..that's not bug reporting and unless they get lots of bug reports, it's not a known issue, no matter how common knowledge it really is, cause the GMs ain't all that up on what's going on evidently(ok..so they seem to be involved in another game TOTALLY most of the time...try telling them your hobbit is stuck on Amon Sul and see what happens! ).

As far as getting d/c'd and kicked out of the instance...nothing new there, been that way for a long time now, done on purpose by the devs to prevent exploiting, thank your favorite local exploitation guild for that one! Bug report it when it kicks you from Shroud to Harbor though, or it's not going to become a known issue Bug it EVERY time it happens..make it happen time after time and report it..the more reports, the faster it becomes a known issue.

Gotta take what the GMs say with a grain of salt. Most of them are pretty clueless.

ANd it seems to be only when the Game Crashes/ALT-F4. Not when you lag out. At least, Its never happened to me when the I simply DC'd due to lag.

one of the three gms i talked to was a senior gm, another was an admin...

it happens when you d/c, the game crashes, you alt+f4 or when you recall from the shroud

also, if you ddoor and walk out the main entrance you end up in front of the wrong door, but that's not a huge issue

Just wanna say that it doesn't happen if you hit the QUIT button yourself.

I'm one of those 'unlucky' SoBs that gets the mega-lag in every other run. (Yes it's gotten worse for me.)
When the lag due to packet loss gets up to 40% packet loss, I go ahead and QUIT. I wait a few more minutes, and maybe get the word that they're close to finishing from somebody and bring the game back up.

It's never thrown me into the harbor out of the instance. I come back with packet loss still, but usually it's down into the 20% range and rapidly dropping.
