Can I use my disk to load up another computer, download the updates and then have them start a trial account? (I was thinking it might shorten the total download time if I started from my original DVD for the install.)
Any other relavent ideas about this are appreciated.

They would actually have fewer updates if they installed from the trial download instead of the original disk. That has been updated with some of the newer content, although I'm not sure how up-to-date it currently is. Alternatively, you can also save a lot of time by installing from your disk, then copying the *.dat files from your computer to his. That would cut his update time down to a few minutes.
