Installed on wrong computer, put on new one and no character

I am a big newbie and installed DDO on my laptop. It almost has the min requiements to play the game. I can play but its tough. I brought my nice fancey work computer home and installed it on that machine. I logged in (after 12151 updates) and my character that I got up to a whopping level 1 (5th rank) is not there. Can I move my character to the other computer? I realize it is not a lot of lost time, but if I buy a new computer in the future, how do I move my character from one machine to the next?

I have the game installed on both my laptop and my desktop and when I log in all my characters are on both computers...

You sure you picked the right server, etc?
