Mephits! I find their raspy screeching highly annoying. They are the single reason I keep the sound effects low on the game.

Elimination of the DM narrator voice in quests and a shift away from casual team based content in favor of solo uber elite content

Absolutely! VON has a great story. I love the premise of being in someones dream and following the inevitable as it tries to enforce the law of mortality. The arena is cool as well

There's very brief summaries on the quest log but they don't give you all of the dialog. It's a shame that I miss all of that content because the few quests I have had a chance to read (mostly when soloing) have been pretty interesting and well written.
This is an outstanding idea; one that I hope Turbine would consider implementing. I often find that I too feel rushed and don't get to read what I'd like.

I also have a suggestion of my own. Please consider embedding more quest hints in the dialog of the NPC storylines. I find the hand holding that the DM narrator provides at times patronizing. Give us an incentive to read the stories more carefully. Embed puzzles by rewarding intelligent perceptive detective work. There would seem to be a lot of design space beyond moving puzzles on the floor. Just having a an NPC say they heard the source was near running water should be enough of a clue for players to search for secret doors by a waterfall
