My first high level char was a cleric. I was more than a bit astounded when this "tactic" was explained to me in Von6. I did it as the newbie in the room and it ****ed me off to no end. I've refused to do it every time since when asked.

In my area there is exactly 1 internet provider that will give me a good connection. (cable only, DSL sux, I'm lucky to get 300K) If they fail..well they fail... A 30 second disconnect from them, a 30 second power outage, or windows misbehaving and making me reboot should not end an hour of play time for me and disadvantage my party.

Also the fact that it only sends you to the wavecrest sometimes means either the "feature" is bugged or the reconnect is bugged. Either way, the devs need to fix it. For example yesterday I DC'd for a couple minutes in Shroud2 and I reappeared where I had DC'd only without buffs (now that's odd)

That should happen when you DC from the DDO client for reasons not related to you, or your ISP. If the server drops you, you'll come back in the instance.

If it's a user-promulgated DC, or one that the server interprets as user-promulgated even if it isn't, then you pop outside the raid.

This is one reason you *never* press alt-f4 while in a raid NO MATTER WHAT kind of connection issues you are having. Wait it out.

Leave the "boot from instance" feature active for all Raids.
The only reason this being booted from all quests "fix" is in the game: because of the exploits used in certain raids.
Yeah, leave it for the only quests in the game where you acn't simply walk back over and zone it. It's a mild irritant for most quests, it's a downright shame for raids.

I can only get DSL where I live, and then from only one company. I don't know if a lot of my lag and DC issues are due to them or not. I don't think so, because this happens to me not only in the raids, but in any quest. I always come back dead at the Inn I bound at. That tells me it is probably not me or the ISP, because even though I am DC, something is killing me by the time I get back.

If I am wrong, maybe someone can explain or give me tips on what to do.

The only time my ISP drops is when I play DDO. I have no background programs running, I am using a Linksys router (WT58 or something like that) and bridging the ISP modem. Both units are less than a year old and it was happening before I got new ones. No one else in house is using the net when I play. I have checked the tech issue forums, but it seems my issue is unique or they don't know what to do, so they don't respond.

Any one else dead upon restart?

No whining, unless you're serving really good cheese. Otherwise, put a cork in it.
