The "feature" I am talking about is the one where you get kicked out of a quest or raid if you loose your connection. Fix this please. We shouldn't be punished because Cox, Comcast, Verizon, AT&T, etc. can't keep their networks straight.

OMG YES! I don't know about others, but I always end up dead too, so it costs me money also.

No whining, unless you're serving really good cheese. Otherwise, put a cork in it.
Agreed. Unfortunately it seems those that exploit cause those of us that don't to suffer.
Oh I know what you mean. Well, I know at least one place you mean.
The funny part is, you can still cheat the place I'm thinking about, but with a different method. This change didn't fix it. There are other things they can do to rather simply fix it (by editing the specific raid), but they haven't done so.
What's especially irritating is that many players do not yet understand that a DC player has been booted from the quest. So if someone goes linkdead in a raid and it's time to loot the chest, there will always be 2-3 people yelling and screaming to wait for him to reconnect first. Then everyone's time is wasted sitting there 10-20 minutes just to see him rejoin back in Wavecrest Tavern or whatever.

Yup, that's my experience as well.
We all know about exploit potential, but if this is deliberate its an overreaction. If this is a bug, it needs to be fixed.
Twice in the last month (once in Shroud 3, once in 4) I went link dead for 30ish seconds each time, and both times I show up in Wavecrest. Not only to I lose my chance at the chests, my group has to move forward short a man.
Fix it!
I pulled a real goof the other night. At one point in the Shroud, I needed to alt+enter so I could check another window, and the game window goes black. Completely black. Not blinded, not Darkness - just black. And no matter what I do, it stays that way. So I get advised to kill the program and redo. When I go to the character selection screen, I accidentally click directly on "Enter" and log in under my main... not knowing that logging in on another character while your first character is in a raid group will kick you out of that group.
Yes, mea culpa, my fault... but STILL, I was extremely frustrated about the overly harsh outcome from an honest mistake. I wish there were some way to tell the difference between exploiters and people who've simply screwed up.
I agree and disagree with the self-proclaimed Lord of Argonnessen.
I agree that the feature should be removed for standard quests. RE: Rainbow in the Dark.
I whole-heartedly disagree with removing this feature from raids.
The last thing we need to see is parties forming and fighting thier way to the Pit Fiend in pt 5 only to have the cleric go LD. In case the party wipes in an-otherwise easy fight. It's bad enuff all the exploits that are used in that raid.
Note: Not inferring that Yaga Nub does exploit. He's an upstanding player.
Argonnessen's only Halfling Paragon.

Fixed that for you Rams![]()

I agree this can be frustrating, this happened to somebody in a shroud run with me the other day. We completed part 1-3, but he disconnected partway through. He was teleported out of the instance, and the first portal had closed. He couldn't get back in, and he was shafted as far as the loot goes. He waited for a GM for a long time only to be told nothing could be done to help him, although he had not disconnected of his own accord.
However, this was changed to be this way for various, not so obvious reasons. I don't know...I just don't want to go back to the days of people seeing disconnecting from the game as a viable "tactic."

So raiding with people is only for people with good internet connections and better than awful machines? We have a guildie who's IP won't allow him to do part 1 of the raid. He freezes to a standstill once the portals zone in, and won't be able to move until after the last portal closes. It's about even odds for him to lose connection during that time.
So what? Is he simply not allowed to do the Shroud?
And what of myself whose internet has little 60 second hiccups from time to time. Whoops, might as well drop party, you can't get back in.
There's no 'selecting' a provider in a lot of places. If you live in a place where you get free reign of lots of different providers, then sure, it's great to choose one that works. But designing a game around that is very bad.
Now, going back to the link-dead strat... if you don't like it... don't use it. There's no reason for a significant portion of the population to be kicked out of raids, and potentially screw everyone else just because of a tactic that's only marginally effective anyway.
It's really not that big of a deal. People used to do that in the dragon, and it always annoyed me there because it was a dumb solution to a problem. I hate when the cures are worse than the disease, though.
Thus, going back to disabling this feature for "normal" quests.
Leave the "boot from instance" feature active for all Raids.
The only reason this being booted from all quests "fix" is in the game: because of the exploits used in certain raids.
And granted we will (or could) argue all day; that I should not care about what others do because it doesn't effect my gaming experience. But that would be a false statement.
Of the last 6 shroud runs that I've PuG'd to gather ingreds I've had to exploit (or try to) the **** thing because the majority of the party didn't share my views on the fight in pt.4 and 5 being rather easy.
So because my values didn't match the majority of the party (I had to compromise my beliefs.)
I am, Rameses!

Yeah yeah, look at the two n00bs calling me a n00b!
This is how clueless I am at times, I didn't even realize there was an issue with people going link-dead in any raid.
Either way as someone else posted, it's a shame the cure is worse than the disease.
