    Default Heavy Armor

I just made a Barbarian Drow, and one thing I'm wondering (though it's not necessarily directly relevant to the barbarian I just made)...does heavy armor negate most of a barbie's traits in DDO like it does in PnP (assuming you got proficiency with heavy armor in the first place)?

Medium and less is what you need unless you mix in Fighter.

Er....the question wasn't whether barbs were proficient in heavy armor, but rather whether they would lose their special abilities (like fast movement & uncanny dodge) when wearing heavy armor. I think the answer is no, they wouldn't lose them, but not sure.

U dont lose special abilities when using it while not being proficient with it but you will however get dinged in some way as you always do when using armor/wep u are not proficient with. As stated take a fighter lvl to compensate or take a feat.

It's usually considered a very bad idea though, since the best armor is mithral which cannot be heavy, and it's going to be hard to keep up with AC at high levels.
You can still do it at low levels, but it's very likely that you will respec out the heavy armor feat later.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about doing. I have some +1 and +2 Full Plate that I was saving for my cleric, but since I'm making a drow barbie, I was thinking maybe it'd be better to go with a lower dex so I can get my CON higher and use Full Plate, at least early on. I may just stick with medium armor, though, since I already made her with 18 str, 16 dex, and 12 or 14 (I forget which) con.

    It's been a while.. BUT
    since nobody else mentioned it..
For rogues.. You can't use uncanny dodge in medium armor..
And I THINK if I recall.. You can't use the Dodge that Barbs get in heavy armor.
But I think it still works with med.. have to test it again.

Not sure I believe I heard before it also killed the fast movement? Could be mistaken.

It's supposed to, but does not impair Fast Movement.

Uncanny Dodge/Imp UD are also unaffected by armor type (as intended).
