Default The Lost Art of Intimidation.

Recently a couple Guildies and I were running the Shroud and we noticed an interesting occurance with Bearded Devil.
Guildie A: attempted an Intimidate check which caused the Bearded Devil to teleport only around Guildie A never straying far; like it's normal pathing. (we thought this was a fluke, so we tested it repeatedly on the few runs.) Allowing the Bearded Devil to be beaten down quite easily.

I am curious if anyone else has tried Intimidate and noticed this accurance?

I am, Rameses!

Though I haven't tested it, seems like that should be the way it works. The devil teleports and switches aggro every time, if you are intimidating him, he is forced to aggro on you, so any teleporting should not take the intimitank off the aggro list.

I agree. It should work that way in theory. You just don't see many folks at high levels using Intimidate these days...well at least not the PUGs I usually end up running with.

I wanted to keep it civil.

But yes, I am a firm believer that intimidate will work effectively every time.
Try it and let me know what you discover.

I think and mind you I don't have the numbers to prove this. But my theory is that by intimidating the Bearded Devil you are staying at the top of it's agro list.

I havnt really paid too much attention to this, but I see somewhat similar results on my intimitank... (though not in the shroud so they usually die right after being intimidated.)

Unless your talking of the red named devil in part 2 in which case havnt had him ever while on my intimitank so cant tell ya...

Intimidte is still effective at high levels.

The beared Devil seems to be coded to Teleport at some Variable. Be that time, damage, or completely random.

However, Intimidating him will bring him to you and keep him fairly close.
What this helps you do as well is apply more damage on him. (Because he stays close-er). This allows you to not only use intimidate to stay on top of his "agro list" but it also allows you (or who ever is with you) to use Damage to stay on top of his agro list.

Intimidate does work for certain. I've yanked im off casters and mroe importantly just yanked him to keep him still for 6 seconds.
The thing about alot of high end mobs is that they CLeave and Great Cleave. Thus allowing them to sweep their front arcs. Thus to be optimal NON Intimidation melee should stick to the sides opposite of Intimitanks. This reduces damage to the party in the long run.

Hey Riot, thanks for checking my original intimidate numbers from your Riot tank thread - quick question though, have you noticed any difference between intimidate scores for part 4 and 5?

Sadly in a PuG it's a hard thing to test.

Whenever I am on my tank and we get the devil I use intimidate. In the very least, you lock him on you for 6 seconds of beatdown at a time. I can't speak of what you mention because I usually just move the devil group near the person the devil randomly chooses to spawn on, making him easier even before you put intimidate into the mix.

Yes. Best is when you have 3 players alternating their intimidates so that he almost never leaves.

Nope, I have not noticed a difference. From my experience the intimidate nubmers are the same for the Pit Fiend in part 4 and 5.
He just gets alot more Hit Points.

Ironically, I have found him to be alot more controllable in part 5 than 4....The blades have alot to do with that however. But being able to move him around is actually a big deal. If you play your strat right. (Not talking about cheating or bugging either).

I have checked numbers, same in part 4 and 5. 100% Guaranteed.

Really?

By my experience he seems to not act as intimidate in part 5, since maybe a week or so. He seems much more mobile than he used to... and a lot more chaotic. But I only went for one completion sicne then, so my sample is fairly small. Maybe he was just weird that day, but **** he was a pain. I felt like Intimidate was broken.
