Default Taking Mithral Body as a late Feat?

It seems that it is now possible to choose Mithral Body as a Feat later in a WF's career. It used to be the case that you could only do this during Character Creation. Am I correct? Because when I was giving my Level 3 WF Wizard his feat, the computer allowed me to place Mithral Body into the Feat slot. But I didn't actually go through with it, so I'm not sure if I would have gotten an error message.

If this is true, it seems like Mithral Body will be a great addition to a WF Wizard when he is a high enough level to attain Inscribed Armor III (making the spell failure 0%).

    Thanks!

You can do it but why? I doubt your AC will ever be high enough that this makes a difference. I really don't see any other use for any body feat but Composite unless you can get a decent AC. That having been said it might be good for a temporary midlevel feat if you can get your AC high enough for midlevel content. You will get an armor check penalty that you can't temporarily remove by taking off your armor like fleshies can.

I do not believe so, I thought Body Type feats had to be taken at level 1? I know they can be swapped out later with a shard but I believe you can only take one at level 1 if you started with composite plating.

You can only take it at creation.

You may swap a feat for it (by talking to Fred), but it must be your level one feat.

Actually for my WF Wizard the reverse was true, started him with Mithril armor and with Arcane Docents and Inscribed Armor, my Arcane spell failure was very minimal at lower levels. At most it was 5%, but the AC bonus at lower levels was very nice. Throw in a light Mithril shield and his AC became quite nice. But at later levels when AC doesn't matter, I swapped it for composite and saved myself some AP points as well.

Truth be told you CAN now take WF body feats later down the road. I play a Ftr/Rng/Rog 4/2/2.. started with the ranger levels, moved to rogue then to fighter. I started witht he Composite plating and then took Mithral at level 6. It is indeed possible and is in fact swapable now.

You took it or swaped for it?

Took it.. but there are WF in my guild who claim to have swapped. I have no reason not to believe them so assumed it was true. Maybe "is in fact swapable" is a bit hasty considering all I have to go off of there is someone else's statement, but like I said. No reason not to trust them.

Edit: Although, now that you CAN take it later than character creation means that it's possible to respec a swap.

Confirmed, I was messing around and took mithral body feat at lvl 8. Doesnt have to be taken at lvl 1 anymore it seems.

I do remember when this was not the case.

Yup! I did this just the other day...just looking now for a shard to reverse it to complete the 'test'

I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I don’t think you realize that what you heard was not entirely what I meant.

    Question

what if you took both mithral and adamantine body feats? Like you took mithral as your level 3 feat and adamantine as your level 6. Would only the adamantine work, being the heaviest? Would whatever you choose first or second work? The option for adamantine body is still listed to me for my mithral bodied bard and wizard.

You can only get it by swapping out your first level feat. Dodge (for sake of argument). Swap Dodge for Mitheral. You can then swap Mitheral for Adim, but you cant get both.
