    Default Holy Sword

    Alright, for those whom have not gotten it, or aren't even looking at it anytime soon, I made level 14 last night and my WF Bladesworn Pally was chomping at the bit to get a holy burst greatsword...

    The vendor of blessed cold iron weapons is in House J, so I picked up 2 GS, 2LS, and 2Mauls, pretty hefty price tages for cold iron weapons with no +'s on em, then ran to the nearest inn and mem'd the spell only to get "you're a noob, cast it in a dungeon!". Le sigh...

    So I ran into Red Willow, never done it before on this toon, so normed it, and after some buffing and summoning my HGS of pawnage made a bee line to the named Troll to try this sucker out.

    The damage was pretty neat, Named guy was saying stuff about my skin (loser! I'm a WF!) and two swings he was toast. The other flunkies didn't last much longer either.

    Needless to say that was not the best use of the weapon, but some quick conclusions...

    1. Pally WF/and others with this weapon are gonna put some real numbers on the board
    2. The Cold Iron weapons are gonna make you broke
    3. Dual wielding heavy picks might be very interesting

    I'd like to see some changes, like getting back my cold iron weapon to reuse. Not sell or anything, but just reuse. I'd also like to have gotten it earlier and had it's power grow with my levels. Honestly it should be a little behind the greensteel weapons, but I don't think too far behind, kinda give the pallys something to look forward to.

    Comments, ideas?

    I have actually been thinking of picking up this spell now that Clerics have mass deathward. At least until there is a recipe for bastardswords in the mod crafting.

    I agree that the spell component cost is high but in Mod 7 they have stated that the sword will stay around for longer.

    Weapons conjured by the Holy Sword spell and arrows created by the Arcane Archer enhancement are no longer destroyed at the end of a dungeon. These items now persist until you have been logged out for half an hour or more.

    They've already addressed the holy weapons staying around longer; they'll last 30 minutes after you've logged out, so hop in instance, summon, hop out, and have it whole game session.

    My request: Make it silver And Cold iron, as is we can only use it on reaver/renders and demonqueen, yet are we not to hunt devils and Pit Fiends as well? While granted, yes a great pitfiend weapon... you have to be 14 pally to even use the spell, so its not like EVERYONE will be running around with one either.

    Just my 2c.

    I wonder they they wouldn't just make the holy sword revert back to a mundane sword instead of destroying it?

    Except for cold-iron, this sword is no good. Which means you can forget about using it in Mod 6. And everything you would use it on (reavers,renders, DQ) you can pretty much kill relatively easily. Much rather have a green steel great commander sword that has more base damage, holy and pure good burst, and doesnt disappear or take up backpack space.

    Again, nothing in the high level paladin spell level that is any good at all. Another reason not to go past paladin 11.

    It does pretty okay on the bearded devils and orthons, I use it on my pally (other account) cause it is the hardest hitting thing she's got. At least for vale stuff.. Now the pit fiend? whole different story...

    Assuming new stuff doesn't come out that requires a Paly to have more then 11 levels.

    On some of the devils/orthons that are not named a wounder/vorpal are just about as effective. I need more transmuting of greater banes!!!

    This is true, but I don't have a wounder on my higher pally and the vorpal doesn't do much damage.. The way I roll 20's (not often), tis faster to take them out with holy sword (kopesh).. Otherwise I'd be beating on them all day hoping for a 20 only to have it not crit.. But.. to each their own..

    by the time you get to 14th level and can cast it.

    Once it persists the whole session, not just a quest, it will be much better.

    A chioce of materials, Addy, Silver would be excellent and make it much more useful in the newer content.

    I think you should automatically get your holy sword at level 1, make it relatively weak and it increases in power as you gain levels, if you take any other class than paladin it should disappear, never to return. It would be an uber item for pure pallys. Multi-class characters would still get the other benefits but the Holy Avenger should be specifically for the paladin from his/her diety.

    +3 and 4 wounder of all types are appearing on the ah for cheap now, so i bought my paly one. works well in a lot of vale situations.

    Agree, wish they had more materials available, that would increase it's usefullness by a lot. Also would love to be able to cast it on other weapons to make them Holy like we are supposed to be able to, but meh that's another discussion.

    Honestly for paladins the second level of silver flame favor should be your choice of a devine focus for the holy sword spell that give you the ability to summon a weapon of your choice in either the cold iron or silver version. That would make the spell more useful....in a way atleast.
