Madstone Boots

I imagine many of you know this already, but I didn't and I was so excited when I found out, I just had to share! I finally clued in to what the "unknown ability" was with the Boots!

Gives BAB equal to your level.

Madstone Boots - +4 Dexterity, Potency VII, Striding 20%, Unknown Madstone Boots ability*, Madstone Rage 1/day

I got them on my Level 15 Rogue and I noticed when they went off, she was getting that extra back-swing that Fighter/Pallies/Bards/Rangers get. I briefly checked and noted that the Madstone Rage provides a 20% haste boost, so I just assumed it was that. Maybe it is, I don't have a Haste Boost to confirm. So, I decided to check again and when I activated the Boots, my BAB went from 12 to 15! Awesome! So, the boots (when they go off) are like Rage, Divine Power and Barkskin +4 all in one shot! Sweet.

Again, if everybody already knows this, please don't ridicule me unnecessarily, let me enjoy my excitement for a while at least...

Cedrica.. I think the boots are awesome. It does make me wonder if you noticed the "other" unknown trait... was this on your bard? Are you a buff-and-fight sort of bard? Ah, on your rogue. Pure win!

I always love announcing "I'm putting on my Madstone boots!" when I run my sorcerer. Oh the groans of dismay.. \\

And now I wish I had kept one of the 2-3 pairs I've given away with my Sorc .... I like Tenser's too heh.

Yeah they provide an attack speed boost. I tested them out on my fighter. However I'm not sure if DOUBLE madstone rage will stack on the attack bonus even more, cause then that would put Tempest to shame with just a TWF however the attack speed bonus from madstone rage stacks with haste and the fighter attack speed boost.

Not exactly. The BAB=level effect is part of Madstone Rage.

The "unknown ability" on the boots is a 20% chance to activate Madstone Rage each time you are damaged.

Still, the BAB thing is not listed as a Madstone effect, this was news to me.

news to me. then again I've always used them on a melee based class so I've always had full attack bonus with them. Interesting.

I have them on all my melee except my Pally so far... My ranger/rogue uses them also. The only drawback to madstone rage is that you cannot cast a spell... beit sp, wand or scroll or even lesser restore potions (but you can drink any other potion). Because of this I have been debating putting them on my pally but have arriced on the conclusion that I will afterall.

Yeah, I carry 3 sets on my fighter 2 on my pally and 1 so far on the battle bard.( Need more for bard :>)

You can not use dragonmarks(tested on a halfling) either while Madstone Raging. That said, My Fighter/Rogue loves the boots, until I need to heal myself!

Just realized that the other day also while playing my ftr9/wiz6-BAB12(?). Still debating the trade-offs of not being able to cast key buffs while raged though. Very powerful item for sure, have 3 sets on my paly/ftr.
