Default Cannot run this game with administrator priviledges error

I havn't played DDO for over a year now, but i saw the new updates and me and some friends wanted to join up and have at it again. I have a new PC now a very good one and it is running Vista 32 bit premium. Problem is i try to run the game and it pops up with a ******** sounding error: "You cannot run this game with administrator priviledges. Please try again without running as administrator" no matter the settings i set, it will not allow me to run the game. Guess it was a mistake to renew my subscription. Is there a way to fix this i am not seeing?

Also please dont tell me to use the search button and stop being a moron because i tried and it came up with nothing.

Are you logged in as an Administrator? I know everything you say there suggests that you are but just to make sure... If so, you can try right-clicking dndlauncher.exe, click the security tab and set Full Control. For some reason, an admin. account has trouble unless this is set. I don't know if this will solve your probably but it is worth a shot (and I haven't looked in to any details as to why this is a problem).

Also, I run with the UAC completely off. I don't recommend this unless you know what you are doing with respect to protecting yourself against malicious programs, hacks, etc...

Oddly enough i tried this after posting and fixed it on my own, i did some other things too i wasn't sure what made it work, apparently it was the privileges then. Thanks for the response, even if i did cure my own problem before i read this.

Any time man. I'm glad you posted back with a follow up. Vista permissions and account have been screwing up more games than just DDO. They've turned off a lot of things by default to protect against spyware, bots, etc. and many users don't know what is going on when things fail. For instance, I installed F.E.A.R. Platinum edition and the launcher failed to install anything because the install is handled via HTML (Javascript)...and however Vista installs, it doesn't allow this even with Javascript enabled. I think it has to do with active content being disabled by default but I haven't bothered to experiment...I simply bypassed the HTML install. But still, there were posts everywhere about it not working in Vista.

In any case, I'm glad to see it is working!

Okay my newest VISTA home Premium edition with all updates, won't allow DDO to run.
I've tried all the fixes about giving premission to DDO launcher and turbine launcher and turbine evoker. Still no soap.
I created a seperate account called DDO on my machine. runs fine now and i like that that desktop has only a DDO icon, So i added a desktop icon for direct access to these forums, my guilds website, DDO screenshots folder, crafting planner, build guides and what not. So its all together and not mixed with other stuff.
So if i log on and there is no group i'm interested in i change the screen size and leave the Social panel up, while i do other DDO related stuff, pretty neat!

Below is a link to a Microsoft site explaining what UAC (User Account Controls) is and how to disable it.

    http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...d3eae1033.mspx

Once it is disabled please restart your computer so it can take effect. Then you should be able to launch DDO and the game should patch without an issue. If you are able to get into the game after the patching finishes you can then re-enable UAC if you would like. Just make sure to restart after enabling UAC so it can take effect.

You should be able to launch the game by clicking on the Windows/Start button and then clicking on Games. If there is a shortcut for DDO here you can copy it to your desktop. If not you can go to your DDO installation directory and right click on the Turbineinvoker (Or Turbineinvoker.exe) file then select 'Create Shortcut'. Drag the shortcut, which should be called 'Shortcut to Turbineinvoker' or 'Shortcut to Turbineinvoker.exe' to your desktop. You should be able to launch the game from this new shortcut.
