shroud collectables

are the infernal pacts and blade storm fragment NPCs broken? or they gonna be of use in future mod 7?

I think they're all broken. Let me list what I've seen wrong with the shroud collectables:

1. The items you get are twigs.
2. The items don't go in collectible bags.
3. The items do not (apparently) need to be kept to finish the quest.
4. There are 4 items which drop, and 4 items to collect, but only 2 items in both those lists.
5. Sometimes the portal fragments cannot be taken (it might depend on who killed the portal?)
6. The item drops are rivalrous, instead of allowing each player to get his own copy of the collectible, like how other collectibles work.
7. The target numbers to complete the quests are absurdly high. They're probably more than 5x as high as is reasonable. You're looking at 50 raids to do the portal quest, assuming that nobody else grabs any. If they're grabbed fairly, then it would take more like 600 raids.
8. I suspect that the rewards for the quests are totally inadequate compared to the huge time it would take to do them.


Of course, no player has yet reported what the rewards for those quests are. I don't myself have the crazy dedication needed to test it, but I do have a plan to find out:
You can farm portal fragments in phase 4 by simply NOT fighting Arraetrikos and killing as many gnolls as you can. I roughly estimate you'll get Healing Totems at the rate of one per 6 minutes, meaning it would take 10 hours to complete the collection.

If any insane guild wants to try this (maybe those same people who think Ascension Chamber is "fun"), let us know what happens!

The good news is that in about 20 runs on part 4, I've collected seven healing fragments... So by Fall of 2012 I should have enough to let you know what you get for them.

Because "totally inadequate" doesn't do justice to a reward of paltry XP that is impossible to attain with out being capped. Oh well, at least it means I don't have to fret over your other (valid) points.

There is a questgiver NPC. Presumably when you return to him with enough portal frags, you get some item.
