    Default Vista and Risia Client

I'm trying to load the Risia client on my system, which already has the regular client installed and functioning. The standard client was re-installed after the downloadable was modified to include Hi-Res drivers and the new "TurbineInvoker" launcher, and has been, other than getting occasional "DDO client has stopped working" messages when trying to start up, working fine.

The Risia client seems to still be configured to launch using "dndlauncher" for one thing, and after installing, updating and restarting the client, at the "updating the game data" stage, about halfway through the 9802 or so files I get an error that says "cannot save data files", crashes the upload, and tries again after 60 seconds, to no avail. The file it's crashing on is "client_sound.dat-12111" or something very similar (It's off the screen so fast I cannot be sure of the numeric portion).

I have turned UAC off and I ran the installer as Administrator (started by right click, etc.)

The regular game client did not give me any problems when I re-installed. Has the Risia client been updated yet? There are going to be a lot of players wanting to get a preview of mod 7, and without a working installer/updater there may be an uproar.

The only thing I can suggest is to post this on the test server forum and also bug the behavior.

I put in a report and was told to try the "Run as Administrator" config... I guess I made an assumption that the new vista loader was tested on Risia... No reason to assume that, I guess.

I'm now searching to forums for the files to set to "Run as..."

I'm having this same problem trying to update Risia for Mod7 testing. I'll try the 2 files mentioned above.

If you continue experiencing issues connecting to Risia make sure to also post on the Risia forums.

Something to try. Exit out completely of DDO in any form (Live or Risia including the system tray application) open up the task manager and kill any remnant turbinelauncher.exe and/or turbineinvoke.exe then launch the risia client
