In 2 years I've never seen anyone use whirlwind in combat. The rest looked good.
I think that elemental stance specialties thing is good idea, wonder how it'll turn out.
I,ll make a quick picture of how I'd think whirlwind look best.

I'm guessing every move they made and any move they could have made I could point to some game or movie and say, "They ripped it off from there." Maybe because that's how they come up with animations, seeing something done and thinking, "That would look neat in the game," perhaps? I guess some folks need to have something to kvetch about... to play along, I'll say if they were going to rip something off, why not rip off some of Tony Jaa's moves.

With one shot weapons (banish, vorpal, even paralyze) it's great for when you're surrounded. Also handy for mobs that move around quickly. Good for getting agro from a large group of mobs too. Obvious drawbacks are spending 3 feats and needing a 14 int.
What I dislike about the new Whirlwind monk animation is that it doesn't really fit with the realistic style of the other comat animations. Most of DDO uses animations that you could imagine really being used in combat, even down to details like body weight shift. I'm a martial artist myself, and I really liked most of the new animations. The whirlwind, however, seems out of place as being too video-gamish and doesn't have nice details like a powerful leg or foot position. There are just so many better things they could do with it, like a jump spin heel kick or many varieties of double jump kicks. I don't mind some unrealistic wire-fu, but I think the whirlwind animation is too simplistic compared to the great work they did on all the other attacks. It's not like I'm going to threaten to quit DDO or boycott playing monks (I have two multi-class monks set up and ready to level already), it's just that I was disappointed that the most rare and difficult attack to do in the game seemed to have a lower quality animation than the standard attacks.
