Is there a reason we don't have a sort inventory command? Just something that'll gather all empty spaces to the end, and group by item type?

I don't see how that's more helpful, actually? It seems like a cheaper way to get around just doing a sort. There are plenty of times I 'lose' an item in my inventory, it'd be wonderful to sort and then look for where the gloves wound up.

Furthermore... it'd be great to get all the empty spaces to one point so you can see exactly where new items are going.

I am of the opinion that the inventory screen is the worst UI issue in the game. I could not begin to guess how many hours I've spent tabbing through inventory panels looking for a specific item, and having to mouse over several identical icons to find the weapon/ring/cloak I'm looking for. The issue is particularly bad for two-weapon users and archers. If there were as simple a change as being able to list your "backpack" items like the format used on the vendor interface, I'd be happy. Having your items sorted by type (weapons, armor, potions, scrolls, etc.) with the item name next to it in a list format would be all the fix I want.
