If I may:
Some people feel a need to express themselves. Express away. This is as good a place as any to do it, but it's public so you have to follow the rules. If you don't like the rules: find an exit. And make no mistake - forum moderators have to investigate complaints. I've never complained nor reported anyone, but if a rule is broken and that 'report post' button is used, I expect them to investigate and dish out consequences. It doesn't have to be any more than that.

Playstyles are as diverse as opinions. Go your own way and don't get in the way of others. There is ALWAYS someone better, faster, smarter, more uber etc. Be polite and respectful, keep your humility, don't expect too much and you usually won't be dissapointed. If you are you will get over it. Maybe you should go fishing.

So lighten up. Laugh at yourselves. Don't wedge the cultural divide. Celebrate it. Life is too short to draw comparisons and complain about how the world isn't the way you want it. The past is the past. So learn from it and move along.

This thread delivers! It has a place. Public awareness if nothing else. I'm sure there were folk on the "Boy meets lonely sailor's wife in DDO Tempest run of doom" that could have benefited from a thread such as this had it existed before. If a gamer finds their eyes about to roll completely out of their head, no problemo! In this very thread there are directions on how to quickly mute the game in a pinch (With a screenshot!) and a suggestion to just disable voice chat.

your cat is more then welcome to try .... I have 3 dogs and the smallest one is 70 LBs ( twice + your cats weight & Isn't it Kilos there ? and if so TY for using LBS if so ..) But I bet with those Pitch forks for claws Morgan must have, even my Dane would yelp..although my 13 year old hines 57 might be in serious trouble ( hehe today is her 13th Bday... Paddy... ) and BTW all enjoy Shi-tzu as Or'devours too( basically anything that yaps..and is smaller then thier Poo) Ohh and I wouldn't want to try the toilet with that one either...well not unless I had stormtrooper armor on..or at least +5 Axeblock admantine fullplate of Invul.

...my cat really likes big dogs. All 3 do. My neighbours have a large shephard and I've watched my 3 cats play this silly game where they get close to the dogs chain limits... they puff themselves up and do these funny kind of hopping and sideways movements whilre hissing at the dog. The funniest part is that the dog jump around a lot too and doesn't bark... in fact I swear the darg even likes the game considering they play this often when his chain is off...

...it's really the small dogs my cats get confused about... they look like rabbits (I suppose).

However, my post was mostly made as a direct result of current occurances and not the past.
I don't believe I am wedging the cultural divide.
In fact, I think you as well as anyone should be well aware of the fact that despite my personal differences with people on certain sides, I kept myself well out of the mix and ensuing competetive nastiness throughout its entirety.

Also... I don't think you realize how it feels to suddenly receive different treatment on a board that you have been actively participating in for two years because of some perceived guild allegiances.

And I fail to see how it's a fault to complain when the world isn't the way you'd want it.
Would you say that to Rosa Parks? Anne Frank? Nelson Mandela? Che Guevara?
Patrick Henry?, William Wallace?, Leon Trotsky?, Nathan Hale? Sam Adams?
etc. etc. etc.

It has nothing to do with how I want the world to be. It has to do with very distinct injustices and the fact that I have the willingness to speak of it because I believe that speaking about it can be a catalyst for change.

Nah, you got me all wrong. That wasn't a sigh of annoyance, it was a sigh of regret. Anyway, if you'd dug up that old thread you that would have been a necro, so you couldn't do that, either. I just don't want to see a repeat of that earlier thread and associated episodes, hence the sigh of regret.

All joking aside, I actually feel about the same as Ringos on you Legion folk. And if you are feeling like you are getting "special treatment" It could be that there are so many of you posting ( in ratio) to everyone else, So you are just getting your "fairshare" it just seems like more then everyone else..cause you folk post more here then other guilds ( shows Server, and game loyalty to me BTW) Unfortunatly With Lost's( who despite what I just said ..actually brings Her A game to these boards..and most posts are informative, with actuall facts to back up Her claims) post it doesn't look like it, but maybe more of a "Those Legion guys are gonna pay" sorta thing....( which IMHO is even more scary then the " You have to game this way" train of thought)

Unfortunatly this is "there"( Turbine) forums..not actually "ours" ( players) and with the libality laws in America the way they are( 10 mill for hot coffe in your lap ... Come on !).. I personally wouldn't, from a buisness point of view, give up that controll.


And for the record the OPer didn't actually bash RPers, it may have been poor wording ( and who of us isn't guilty of that ), as has been made clear on 3 seperate posts since then..by themselves. I firmly believe that these Evil, RP loathing, Uber gaming, Zergsters do support any kind of gaming here...just do not try to make them do it ...and if the RPrs get 2 stickied posts dealing with RPing why can they not post thier accomplishments... That was directed at the population at large, not you silly. You have held your dignity and temperance in check over the years, and should be applauded for it. For something to drive you to this OP, all I can say is good luck with it, teke it ez and pass the bottle. If people treat you differently because of the company you keep, it's entirely their problem.

Personally, my philosophy is to complain less and act more. If that's your intent here, a catalyst for change, way-to-go. My humble advice to anyone is to occasionally step back, take a deep breath and realize if you look for justice in an OLRPG, bring a good set of field optics. I'm taking a 3 month leave for that very purpose.

What have the last nine months taught us? It seems, not a lot.

I hate to rehash ancient history but last August the server merge was announced.
All three of the original servers that came together to form what we have today, had different and unique cultures. When it came out that Thelanis and Xoriat were to merge I believe everyone went into shock. You could not find two more polar opposites. Tharashk was a, forum wise, non-polarized anti-social neutral, dragged kicking and screaming into our culture war.

Seeing the upcoming war, two solutions were proposed. First, almost everyone who paid attention knew that if we had to merge in some form, the best fit for Thelanis was probably Sarlona and the best fit for Xoriat was probably Fernia. Second, rename all the remaining post-merge servers so everyone was equally alienated. Pick one, I don’t care which, was the cry of some that saw this coming. Of course the shouts were ignored by Turbine. As much as I liked the work of Merlask / Tolero leading up to the announcement, her attempt to defuse the situation did not help. In fact I believe that if she had supported either solution, Turbine might have considered them.

The reason I flog this dead horse is because of the anniversary “Welcome Back Week” and recent threads in this forum. Anyone from Xoriat or Tharashk logging in for the first time in a year was lost. On the log in screen and on the forums, they are gone. Anyone from Thelanis logging on after a year was confused.

(Insert old school returned after more than nine months Thelanian complaints here)

So if this person comes to the forums to find answers, what greets them, high on page one… the infamous Xorian “Hate Thread” reduced to a shadow of its former glory for example? Where is the civilized, socially and politically correct Thelanis of a year ago? It is gone, dead, bereft of life it rest in peace. I just want to remind some people that if Xoriat is dead and if Tharashk is dead, then the Thelanis of yore is just as dead. For better or for worse, we are stuck with each other till subscription cancellation or server transfer do us part.

What is the solution? I am not sure. Maybe a rename all of the servers with a free transfer token to fix our problem? Or maybe we can all forget the past and try to get along and start anew? My money is on nothing changing and the rut continuing. It is irrelevant who fired the first shot or the second or even the third, it is all an urban myth now. This community has more in common with a train wreck or a blood feud than a family. Yes, I miss the chest thumping, in your face banter of the Xoriat forums. I also miss reading the player event story lines and play by play of the old Thelanis forums, may they rest in peace.

In game I see a lot of hope. Our server has something for everyone, if you know where to look. Cliques are being broken; guilds are taking in people from the “other side” that shock the old guard and people have been forming non-PUG parties that include people from the “other side” because they are skilled players, not because of the guild or pre-merge server they came from. On these forums however, two equally stubborn groups with great traditions have managed to shred one another in flamewar after flamewar over perceived slights and tyrannical standards, drag a third group along for the ride, and left us with something less than either were before the merge, with no unique and dynamic culture, no identity, no life, bitterly divided or abandoned.

I am well aware of who you are and where you came from. I was not responding to you in particular. My comments are more of a slow building anger that certain people will automatically flame any thread started by the percieved enemy. I have been a quiet lerker for a long time, who occasionally shoots his mouth off to defend Legion and the Xoriat tradition. Maybe I am biased but I do see most of the flamewars on this server being tilted in one direction. As an example I can point out almost any thread with an OP from Legion. I have watched Womp, Ren, Scarrs and the crew try to compromise only to be beaten down by a group of easily offended, insecure people that will eventually find happiness as self appointed officers of a home owners association and their willing accomplices, the moderators and it sickens me. I used to love reading the forums because they didn't remind me of the wars from my first MMO, SWG. Now I see a server that has a rich and vibrant side attached to an online forum community that does not reflect it. My overblown diatribe was directed at those who believe that they are defending their Traditional Ways and to my friends that may have gotten beaten down so often that any response is an attack. I still believe that the majority of the hard feelings can be traced back to the merge and how it was done.
