Default Adamantine armor for WF Barb's...

Does the adamantine body feat stack with other damage reductions for WF, and is it worth taking if your going pure WF barbarian? Thanks.

Doesn't stack w/ Barb DR, and not worth the few feats barbs get.

It can make the first several levels go easier, though, if you don't mind the cost of respeccing it later.

Thanks for the info. Heh I just think it looks so cool on a Warforged. =P To bad it doesn't stack with WF damage reduction.

EDIT Hey are yall sure this feat doesn't stack with the other dr? Last night I decided to try it our just to see what it looked like on my wf barb, and my damage reduction went up by two. I logged out and back in, and the dr bonus was still showing.

    Thoughts?

im not sure about the stacking either, but i do have a ? about the adam. body. (dont want to hijack your post op, but i know what will happen if i post ANOTHER thread....) since it counts as heavy armor, do we get out bonus's takin away from us? like a fleshy in full plate would? was thinkin of gettin rid of mine for toughness, but dont want to lose what little bit of ac i have.....soo... thoughts on THAT part AND the dr happenings?

What level is your WF Barb and do you have any Improved DR enhancements, or just the Adamantine Body feat?

Level 8 atm, and I've spent one action point into both WF and Barb DR so far.

You'll be better off just using your barb DR since it wont stack with your WF dr

    WF DR max:
    2 ady body
    3 WF enhancements
    0-5 improved DR feats
Thats up to 5-10 DR for 1-6 feats, and 12 aps

    Barb DR max:
    5 base (lvl 14, 6 at lvl 17, 7 at 20)
    2 Barb Enhancements
Thats 7 for 0 feats, and 6 aps

I would say neither of them, your little bit of AC is No AC at high end. Max out your DPS and your much better off.

Depending on if your 2H or 2W

    1 - 2Hf/2WF
    3 - Power Attack
    6 - Improved 2HF/2WF
    9 - Imp Crit-slash/pierce (depeneding on build)
    12- Greater 2H/2WF
15 - Stunning Blow (some take cleave)

EDIT lol ok now I'm really confused. I show 4 adamantine, 3, and 1 DR on my character sheet. When I look in my combat log, only 4 damage is being stoped by my dr. Ahhh! lol

This is with my Adamantine body, two ap's spent on WF dr, and a helm of 1 dr.

Furthermore, I noticed when spending AP's, a DR boost was available, in the form of a clicky that last for 20 seconds. This boost gets all the way up to 15 DR! lol, but I'm not sure what exactly it stacks with. It says not stackable with any inherent barbarian dr.

Thx to all that have replied. I'll have it figured out soon lol. I guess I just love the way the adamantine body looks on my WF. =P

Basic rule for DR is that none of it stacks. Highest applies.

On your sheet, you'll have a DR of 4 against everything, except for anything using adamantine weapons. In that case, you'll have a 3 DR from your barb DR.

Generally speaking the adamantine heavy body feat will work for WF barbarians from levels 1-10. You can attain an armor class that is potentially meaningful. Somewhere between levels 10-12, depending on the quests you're doing, that goes right out the window and your AC stops being in the range that is effective. On my barbarian I swapped out adamantine body feat for Improve Critical Bludgeoning when I got to the higher levels. These statements apply to your average Two Handed or Two Weapon Fighting WF barbarian builds. This does not mean you can't attain a meaningful AC if you've planned on being a sword and board tank and have all the right gear i.e. Combat Expertise, high enough dexterity, +5 protection item, raid loot, etc.

Well after reading this post I have realized my WF Barb is a real (expletive) mess at level 12 and I should not worry ac if it is a +1 docent of Greater fire resistance that is way better then a +5 docent (situationally appropriate of course). So I guess it is time to find a shard and see Fred for some mind flaying. One question I have though, if you took Adamantine body at level 1 can you only switch it for a feat that was available to you at level 1 or for any feat?

When it comes to WF Barbs and DR, it comes down to this, you will wind-up with more Barbariand DR/- than you can get from WF DR/Adamantine. In addition, Barb DR cannot be bypassed (now there isn't a lot that uses Adamantine, but still). I have a WF Barb that took 2 levels of Sorc to be able to repair himself. I started with the Mithral feat for the lower arcane spell failure. I quickly learned that buying Repair Serious and Repair Critical wands was far more efficient. I switched to the Adamantine feat because I found that my AC was always lagging behind comparably equiped non-WF Barbs. I know AC means less at higher levels, but I still haven't had a reason to spec it out.

As for stacking, basically, DR of the same type stacks. DR of different types does not. So if you take all the Barbarian DR enhancements, at cap, you will have 7 (or 9 since I took the 2 Sorc) DR/- and 3 DR/Adamantine. Since there is no way to bypass the DR/- it will always be the used. If you were a fighter with a docent of invulnerability (which gives 5 DR/Magic), then what would happen is that the 5 DR/Magic would be used (since it is highest). However, if something with a magic weapons attacked you (which would bypass the DR/Magic), then the 3 DR/Adamantine would stop 3 points of damage instead of 5. (Unless the weapon is both magic and adamantine)

I believe you still have to use your level 1 feat slot. I'll test tonight.

Went to Fred and he said I could exchange it for a Level 1 so that sucked and I left him mind intact. I did respec my enhancements though and ended up with 2 more rages and 8 more hit points. I believe I read that WF and Barbarian Con enhancements don't stack or else I could get one more con point and have even more HP as I am at an odd number now but I guess I could look for a +5 item. I like the new specs though I solo'd von 1 to the end boss then he made me dance and the rest is history.
