scars, you pervert, you ruined my appetite with your filthy talk. And I'd already run to the store and picked up some kitten tail for sauteing and some puppydog to make the marinara. Now I'm stuck with school girl in my pit out back. It has to be fresh ya see, once they have accepted their fate fear no longer adds that something special.

Recipe to keep fear fresh. Start with a credit card, preferably platinum Visa/MC. Paraphernalia required: zippo lighter, Toenail clippers, roachclip. While apathetic stare follows the card's every move, rekindle that new-terror feeling by holding with clip, heating and singeing edges with zippo (regular lighters don't work as well, they get too hot and your thumb cramps..) and pare off the singed edges a little at a time until nothing is left but the little hologram. MMMMmm good cookin.

i love it when i join a pug reaver and the one guy who basically kept talking we knew he was a kid since he was a tank and started running his mouth became the hero. he doesn't stop swinging when we are behind him shield blocking he tumbles back while we are accepting a charge. when the giant lights the orbs he says i have fly we start toying with the giant for a good 10 min like usual maybe less. as the giant starts getting to 10% we notice that same fighter is up at the giants face swinging and he didn't pull the lever. we had another caster fly up and pull the switch for us since he was basically useless.yet i think he really didn't wanna do anything as in fighting or anything. now i can copmplain about players not pulling there weight my ranger wand whips my cleric heals my casters crowd control and kill. my pally can be both the main tank and the side tank the rogue will want whip and try grabbing aggro if need be, there is a reason for this story if you play why not play to win pull your weight than be one of those players who are just there to get loot and that is it. i am getting tired of these loud mouths and these players get raid loot and do nothing to help. i ran a shroud afterwards and we demolished everything round 1 was slow cause well tank smacking the portals. part 2 was a lil sloppy but we had all the monsters trashed first time we killed them. part 3 was about 15 min the pit fiend was trashed but we rocked him hard. i just get tired of players who don't give it there all.

Oh Cali, Cali, Cali.... for almost 2 years this and much more frustrated me. There are so many loud mouths and / or sub par players that get onto teams for regular quests and raids and jeopardize them.

Then, players like you and many others would step up and somehow manage to salvage the quest and get everyone the completion and end loot, including those who were completely useless.

How is it that a guy can get his tank to level 15 with a 38 ac and / or the inability to know how to stand in front of the Reaver so people can heal him and get their charges, etc...

Or my fav... a Cleric that is level 16 who can't heal or kill anything. I was in a Shroud run the other day on my Bard with some of the cool guys from Wicked and a pug Cleric (Who I warned them about). We got into part 2 and I was assigned to be the healer for one group. I was keeping the 2 tanks up with no problem and all was going well, until they needed me to go and help out on another part. They called this level 16 Cleric over to keep them up while I ran away and he couldn't. He either couldn't heal fast or well enough and they both died in minutes, even after we were all screaming at him to heal the tanks. In this case we couldn't pull it out, but on many in the most dire of situations we have and guess who usually gets the good loot.

I have 5 level 16's, 2 more that are almost 16 and I play a fair bit and still pull the most useless ***** from the chests, meanwhile I see guys on raids who did nothing or less than nothing (like your kid tank in the Reaver) and they pull Wounding of Puncturing rapiers.

I still haven't pulled one of them and despite all my time and levels have only marginal to decent gear.

So, I was upset about this for the longest time until Hal came along and told me that he thinks the Devs think I'm so good that I don't need decent gear and those other players are so poor that they need it.

I laughed my fool head off and in the end realized I was taking myself and the situation too serious and have since just got to the end chests, open them up and laugh... cause I still pull *****.

Maybe Hal is right and guys like us (and many more) are meant to help others get stuff that they desperately need to make them sub par, while we have to put up with how annoying and sub par they are and then watch them pull the +5 Holy Vorpal Cold Iron Scimitar of Disruptions and then comment on how cool it is and wonder how much they can get on the AH for it or put it in their bank to keep it safe while they continue to use their +1 Shock Bastard Sword while not having proficiency in Bastard Sword, but it looks so cool...

    argh...

The thing that's always bugged me is giving credit where credit is due. Some people will thank that Cleric for his awesome healing and not notice that it was the umd rogue/bard burning heal scrolls or the ranger/palli wand healing them.

Oh and for those who have rangers, how did you guys/gals manage to get to lvl 16? I'm constantly looking for PuGs on my lvl 9, but groups that have "looking for tank" never seem to have the ranger up. Or some people will completely ignore rangers and remove them from their lfm. Did an SC elite run with 3 rangers, 1 rogue, 1 sorc and 1 cleric and we had a blast.

Friends baby, friends! You gotta hold your fellow Rangers accountable too. How many of you have been on your Ranger and thrown up an LFM excluding Rangers since you didn't 'need' another? I know it happens because I've seen it plenty. If I'm in a group and I know the people in it, I won't let teh group go up if they leave Rangers off...unless there is a good reason! Pretty powerful when you are the Cleric and they want some DPS and leave Ranger off the list. A quick reminder of what Rangers can do and the LFM changes.

As a side note, the Shroud has really shown what Rangers can do. DPS on the portals, Ranging the PF and the ability to just survive some bad sheet.

it just urks me that some people don't deserve what they get the players who have major raid loot. so here is my issue for most people we should make a huge list i mean have a website that players of great quality go to. yes scar you can join too :P. here is the basis your on the list your not getting raid loot unless you prove you do the work. another idea is we just hang as tightly nit groups and stop flagging these really bad players for raids. we don't need that last slot filled we can hold out on the quest. just makes us better as a group i am kinda sick of players with limited skill and no skill. well i keep complaining and keep venting i just show my hate anyway

Who would judge who was acceptable though? It would probably be more 'old boy network' than anything. THEN you go and let Scars in, to further prove the point. Ah heck, what am I complaining about...I never get any raid loot anyway!

BTW...I know a Cleric who I've seen around who musta bought his account...wonder if it the same one referenced earlier...?

    Meritocracy, or Old Boy Network?

Just want to point out how incredibly intimidating it is to be new and be thrown in with experts who've run the raid 100x before. It's very hard to learn anything when you're new, b/c almost all experts want to zerg as fast as possible.

I've been playing the game five months. I've worked hard and done my homework and I keep up my end pretty darn well. I tanked the reaver on my 3rd time in with a battlebard... no big deal today, but how many times did it take you? Just how quickly does a newb have to learn in order to run high end content? I submit to you that your expectations are very difficult for a newb to meet, level 16 notwithstanding.

Character level is a poor indicator of experience. In today's environment, newbs typically get dragged along on zergfests, picking up xp, but learning little. So we shouldn't be surprised to see level 15 characters who have difficulty fulfilling their role. Where do we expect them to learn from? A better measure of experience would be how many characters you've level capped (two, in my case), but that's not visible in-game.

Anyone can complete a quest when grouping with well-built toons armed to the teeth piloted by experts. Completing it with PUGged suboptimal toons piloted by less experienced players is a much greater achievement. But highest of all, is completing the quest while raising the level of everyone's game. That's DDO leadership.
