Oh Cali, Cali, Cali.... for almost 2 years this and much more frustrated me. There are so many loud mouths and / or sub par players that get onto teams for regular quests and raids and jeopardize them.
Then, players like you and many others would step up and somehow manage to salvage the quest and get everyone the completion and end loot, including those who were completely useless.
How is it that a guy can get his tank to level 15 with a 38 ac and / or the inability to know how to stand in front of the Reaver so people can heal him and get their charges, etc...
Or my fav... a Cleric that is level 16 who can't heal or kill anything. I was in a Shroud run the other day on my Bard with some of the cool guys from Wicked and a pug Cleric (Who I warned them about). We got into part 2 and I was assigned to be the healer for one group. I was keeping the 2 tanks up with no problem and all was going well, until they needed me to go and help out on another part. They called this level 16 Cleric over to keep them up while I ran away and he couldn't. He either couldn't heal fast or well enough and they both died in minutes, even after we were all screaming at him to heal the tanks. In this case we couldn't pull it out, but on many in the most dire of situations we have and guess who usually gets the good loot.
I have 5 level 16's, 2 more that are almost 16 and I play a fair bit and still pull the most useless ***** from the chests, meanwhile I see guys on raids who did nothing or less than nothing (like your kid tank in the Reaver) and they pull Wounding of Puncturing rapiers.
I still haven't pulled one of them and despite all my time and levels have only marginal to decent gear.
So, I was upset about this for the longest time until Hal came along and told me that he thinks the Devs think I'm so good that I don't need decent gear and those other players are so poor that they need it.
I laughed my fool head off and in the end realized I was taking myself and the situation too serious and have since just got to the end chests, open them up and laugh... cause I still pull *****.
Maybe Hal is right and guys like us (and many more) are meant to help others get stuff that they desperately need to make them sub par, while we have to put up with how annoying and sub par they are and then watch them pull the +5 Holy Vorpal Cold Iron Scimitar of Disruptions and then comment on how cool it is and wonder how much they can get on the AH for it or put it in their bank to keep it safe while they continue to use their +1 Shock Bastard Sword while not having proficiency in Bastard Sword, but it looks so cool...
argh...
