Reroll Existing Name Change

What happens a character has multiple names on the server from merger and you wish to reroll that character?? If you are the senior character, do you retain the name once deleted or does it become prohibited?? I did a search and found nothing regarding these circumstances.

The name is unavailable untill all multiples of that name are deleted. The names with the server attachment to them only have that so tells, mail and loot gets distributed properly............ but that name has been "taken out of the name pool"

The "multiples" should now all be changed in some way. They should have a tag of -Server or -1, that changes the name. If you reroll now, your name should be safe (unless someone steals the name in the 5 minutes it takes you to roll a character).

I just went through this with my chars.

At the time of the merge, whomevers name was created first and was being used within a timeframe keeps the name.


My name on Tharashk was older than the guys on xoriat, but since I didnt play my character for a while, he got to keep the name because his character was active. Total garbage but oh well.

What exactly do you need a dev to confirm? That's like waiting for the news guy to confirm that it's raining... WHILE it's raining.

If you have the character name STEVE, and you had another STEVE on another server, then your original character would be STEVE and the characters that merged in would be STEVE-ADAR or STEVE-XORIAT or STEVE-DETROIT. Those are different names than STEVE. If you would like to reroll STEVE-ADAR and make him STEVE, you would first have to delete or change the name of STEVE before that name becomes available.

It's not rocket science, and it probably does not need a dev confirmation.

Ahh but Rocket science does not comprise of Probables, nor is "probably" 100% so Yeah, I would like to get confirmation from a dev that I will not lose the name.

Well, the answer is... there is no one else on the server with your exact name. Which means, you are fine. I am the 3rd person to tell you this in the thread. I doubt a Dev is going to bother answering, because we've already given you the correct answer.

Well, do you have the name or not?

You have the name Steve.
Someone else has Steve-Mabar (from the server merge).
Someone else has Steve-1 (character transferred to the server after the merge).
Neither Steve-Mabar nor Steve-1 are Steve.

So, when you delete Steve to reroll, the name goes back into the "name pool." If someone else creates a character named Steve in those few minutes while you reroll, then Steve will be taken. If you create your character fast enough, you can once again use the name Steve. But, you deleting your character has no effect on Steve-Mabar and Steve-1. Those names are set.
