    Default Uncanny Dodge

It's come up before. It's worth mentioning again.

Why isn't Uncanny Dodge passive as per the books?

I can't be the only Barbarian player constantly annoyed by this.

They couldn't come up with a good system for it as per the books so they made it a boost for Reflex and AC ... if it helps Improved version does passively negate the flanking bonus to hit

Default Because DDO needs to be more balanced than D&D

The devs probably think that passive uncanny dodge would be unbalancing. They're probably right. Unlike PnP, where roleplay is paramount, combat is paramount in DDO. So some balancing is required. And barbarians seem to be doing alright.

If I was a Stormreach monster I'd be carrying axiomatic weapons of greater dwarf bane just to have a hope in hell against the barbarian hordes.

Don't forget your CHA-sapping bolts and Irresistable Dwarf Slaying arrows.

don't forget the greater drow bane arrows that also cast dispell on hit! Wouldn't want to forget about the other half of DDO!

Uncanny Dodge allows you to keep your dex bonus even when you would be considered flat-footed. Flat-footed doesn't exist in DDO, so they invented something for it to do. Improved Uncanny Dodge prevents flanking unless the flanker has 4+ rogue levels more than you do. That is in DDO, but they also added an improved version of the AC/ reflex clickie.

As a barb I just wish that it would last a little longer. 30 seconds isn't long enough.

Because that would be a NERF from what we have in DDO now.

Maybe you think the barb class needs a nerf...? But please don't nerf rogues too.

    I agree.
Just like many other booste, I wish they would last longer....maybe 1min is good.

Trying to activate them before you go into the situation you want them for, means that by the time you need the boost, you have only half or less of the duration left. (hope I'm explaining that right)

For instance....activate it to run through a trap.....then run to the trap....by the time the trap is going off and the saves are rolling, you have only 20secs left.
Activate before agroing scorpions.....then run to where scorpions spawn....same thing...1/3 or more of your time is already up.

For a rogue trying to use it to get past a trap.....stand in the trap....and deactivate the trap......welll....it runs out before he can complete it.

And the skill boosts, don't last long enough to search for the trap....move to the box, and disable the box.......to me that is not right.

I don't mind the short duration... but the fact that activating it forces you to pause in attacking is a bother. That delay means that sometimes using an attack boost can overall reduce your combat power.

I don't know what you're doing wrong, but I've been doing both without much trouble.

If you know where the trap box is, it's pretty easy. But if you search for the trap box, then actually locate it on the screen, run to the box and try to disarm it, it gets pretty close. If you have to switch out search and disable items, you'll probably end up using 2 boosts.
    Dear Posters;
Reality sucks. Fantasy games are a great way to escape reality. So please stop forcing reality into our fantasy discussions. We certainly don't need the reminder.
    Thanks for your understanding
