    Arrow Tell Tolero #9

Good Afternoon Players, it's that time again...

    How it works:
I'll be asking you questions, and here in my thread, you tell me: What comes to mind; what you think; how you feel; etc, as it relates to the question(s) at hand. If you missed the previous week's questions, they'll be listed below and you can answer them here too. Thank you so much to everyone for offering their answers!

    Ground Rules:
Before we get started, let's lay down three ground rules if you're going to participate in the thread. These ground rules also have a few samples to help clarify participation:

#1 - The single most important rule to remember while participating in this thread is:
    No personal attacks.
If you disagree with the opinion of another participant, that's fine, but no one can make anyone agree to their opinion. Thus, please refrain from commenting on the personal qualities of others who offer their responses to the question(s). Personal attacks go against forum guidelines. Questions asked will be subjective, and some users will have a lot related to their opinion, while others may only define things in short phrases. All forms are acceptable.
    Hypothetical Example:
Tolero "Do you like ice cream?"
Player 1 "I hate ice cream because it's too tough to scoop"
Acceptable "I like it. It's not that bad to scoop once you let it sit on the counter for a little bit before you try to dip it Player 1."
Acceptable "I like it but I have the same problem as Player 1. What brand is it Player 1?"
Acceptable "I don't think it's too hard, I never have any problem with it. I like ice cream."
    Unacceptable "That's cause you're a noob..."
Unacceptable "You don't have enough experience with scooping to be talking about how difficult it is"
Unacceptable "How about you back that opinion up with some numbers. If you can't prove it don't bring it here"

Everyone has the right to offer their response to the question(s), whether they have scientific data to back up their feelings, or they simply just "feel" a certain way towards the question(s).

#2 - Participate as well as discuss.
If you would like to join in the discussion, please be sure to offer your response to the questions as well, in addition to your conversation with any other thread participants
    Hypothetical Example:
    Tolero "What's your favorite color?"
    Player 1 "Blue"
    Player 2 "Green"
Acceptable "Purple... hey Player 2, how come you like Green?"
Unacceptable "hey Player 2 how come you like Green?"

Please be sure to take the time to offer your own opinion of the question(s) before you engage in a discussion about other people's opinions in the thread.

#3 - Don't recycle the above hypothetical examples in your responses as it spams the thread.
    -------------------------- Let's Get Started! --------------------------

If you missed last week's questions, you're welcome to answer them now in addition to this week's:
    Question 1
Which in-game interface/UI do you find to be the least user friendly? (e.g. Bank window, Auction House, the Social Panel, etc.)

    Question 2
What is your favorite feature of any online game you've ever played, DDO or otherwise?

    Question 3
Will you be attending any gaming conventions this year?

    Question 4
You're stranded on a desert island. You find a bottle with the Turbine logo on it, a pen, and some paper. What do you write?

    Question 5
What is one thing you feel would help new players in-game the most?

    Question 6
If given a choice between the following thread titles for our weekly activity here, which would you select:
    • "Tell Town Hall"
    • "Tell Turbine"
    • "Tell The Twelve"
    • "Tell Tolero" (EU: "Tell Tolero & Deum")
    • "Turbine's Stormreach Survey"
    • "Let's Talk About..."

    Question 1
If you could thank a Turbine representative for something, what would that something be?

    Question 2
You are captured by an evil NPC. He informs you that he has discovered the ultimate torment for his prisoners. What is the worst thing he could do to you? (Keep answers within forum guidelines please)

    Question 3
Which forum sections do you find you visit the most? Which forum sections do you find you visit the least? (Visit does not necessarily mean that you post in them, it can be simply reading them)

    Question 4
What are your aspirations for DDO for 2008?

They took a long time and dedicated themselves to doing this for a whole bunch of players. Without their help Im sure some wouldn't be playing now. And if The Almighty Bunsen reads this, I dont wanna hear how it wasn't just you. It was you, and yer Almighty. Defo went above and beyond. (P.S; I wasnt one of the players with lost items, I just followed the thread and was very impressed by Bunsens attitude)

    Question 2
You are captured by an evil NPC. He informs you that he has discovered the ultimate torment for his prisoners. What is the worst thing he could do to you? (Keep answers within forum guidelines please) - Take my gear and permanently enervate me to level 1.

    Question 3
Which forum sections do you find you visit the most? Which forum sections do you find you visit the least? (Visit does not necessarily mean that you post in them, it can be simply reading them) - Most - General Discussion, Barbarian, Development, Agro Marketplace. Least - Off-Topic

    Question 4
What are your aspirations for DDO for 2008? - More player races, more player classes, REVAMP PALADINS. And, of course, MORE OF THE SAME!!!

Thank Turbine for: Sticking with the game and not quitting or allowing it to stagnate and burn out over time.

Evil NPC: Takes your most powerful item, and you can't get it back without doing X.

Most, least forums sections: Most- General and Development, Cleric, Least- Off-Topic, Pen and Paper, Marketplaces

Asperations: Keep going, and keep growing. Adventure compendium exportable in csv or xls format. Character sheets exportable in any easy to use format. Lower level raid, possibly an expansion of Irestone. More traditional, less puzzly higher level quests, similar to Tempest Spine. No more undead. Half-orcs, druids.

    Last week's questions:

Least user friendly interface: Enhancements. Who came up with a backwards arrow, and no drag and drop? And all enhancements not available at a level hidden by default, so there is no obvious way to look forward and plan without the use of 3d party planners?

(I must also add in here my hobby horse of: Please make the Adventure Compendium exportable in csv and or xls format. Please make the character sheet and inventory itself exportable in any format.)

Favorite Feature of MMOs generally: Taskbars, especially customizable ones. Earlier played Diablo 1 and 2, and it isn't pretty having to open up your pack to change something in combat.

    Conventions: No.

Message in bottle: Please send laptop with satellite internet access.

Help new players the most: More accurate video promos and tutorials.

    Titles: Meh, doesn't matter.

You are captured by an evil NPC. He informs you that he has discovered the ultimate torment for his prisoners. What is the worst thing he could do to you? (Keep answers within forum guidelines please)
bring me back down to lvl 1 and i would have to start all over.

    Question 3
Which forum sections do you find you visit the most? Which forum sections do you find you visit the least? (Visit does not necessarily mean that you post in them, it can be simply reading them)
i visit the new posts the most, and the least would be everything else.

    Question 4
What are your aspirations for DDO for 2008?
well i would say monk but i know they are coming, so i would have to say more skin customizations, for weapons, armor and new complete racial looks.

I'm hoping that skills somehow become more meaningful (yes I keep harping on that) and that Turbine slowly implements 60-70% of the feats and spells available in the splatbooks.

4). That Turbine throws off the yoke of the oppressors and are allowed to market the game as it should be.

    Question 1
If you could thank a Turbine representative for something, what would that something be?

Continuing to persevere under all the negative feedback on the forums. DDO may not be perfect (and no game ever will be) but it has certainly been fun and kept my attention for two years now. Thanks for all the fun!

    Question 2
You are captured by an evil NPC. He informs you that he has discovered the ultimate torment for his prisoners. What is the worst thing he could do to you? (Keep answers within forum guidelines please)

With question one answered....force me to run the (still) broken Abbot raid over and over (really guys this needs some serious attention)

    Question 3

Most - General discussion and Development

    Question 4
What are your aspirations for DDO for 2008?

I'd love to see the 'basics' finished. Adding in monks (mod 7 I know) and druids. Adding in Half orcs and Half elves. Including polearms (spears, halberds, etc), flasks of oils (and other chemical projectiles - stupid kobolds have them, how about us? lol!), and many other 'common' D&D equipment (there are already many threads covering these items).

    Question 1
If you could thank a Turbine representative for something, what would that something be?

I honestly do not know. Perhaps not giving up on this game because it was not the overwheming hit like WoW is? Maintaining the level of performance with this product has held?

    Question 2
You are captured by an evil NPC. He informs you that he has discovered the ultimate torment for his prisoners. What is the worst thing he could do to you? (Keep answers within forum guidelines please)

Keep taunting me with "VAST AND MYSTERIOUS"!!!

    Question 3
Which forum sections do you find you visit the most? Which forum sections do you find you visit the least? (Visit does not necessarily mean that you post in them, it can be simply reading them)

The ones I visit the most are the development forum, marketplace/Khyber, general discussion, and class forums. One small request about the class forums, if there could be s few different "sticky" type of posts to keep track of different builds near the top of each, that would be great.

    Question 4
What are your aspirations for DDO for 2008?

Finally "find/pull" my long lost set of +5 Mithral FP, reach level 20 before the dev's can implement it, play monks sometime this spring, create a non-dwarf character that has a meaningful AC, create my first caster, and continue to enjoy this game. Almost forgot this, I certainly want to "win" DDO as well

    Question 1
Which in-game interface/UI do you find to be the least user friendly? (e.g. Bank window, Auction House, the Social Panel, etc.)

    Quest Journal/Compendium. They're about equal.

    Question 2
What is your favorite feature of any online game you've ever played, DDO or otherwise?

    Exploration

    Question 3
Will you be attending any gaming conventions this year?

    Nope

    Question 4
You're stranded on a desert island. You find a bottle with the Turbine logo on it, a pen, and some paper. What do you write?

    Help!

    Question 5
What is one thing you feel would help new players in-game the most?

    Better, more engaging, in-game tutorials.

    Question 6
If given a choice between the following thread titles for our weekly activity here, which would you select:
    • "Turbine's Stormreach Survey"

    This week's question(s) are:

    Question 1
If you could thank a Turbine representative for something, what would that something be?

Huh, don't really know. I do know that I greatly appreciate any form of direct communication from Turbine, and I really appreciate Codog's and Eladrin's work in listening to and responding to feedback.

    Question 2
You are captured by an evil NPC. He informs you that he has discovered the ultimate torment for his prisoners. What is the worst thing he could do to you? (Keep answers within forum guidelines please)

Kinda of an odd question. I guess set me up against an endless horde of undead and flesh golems with nothing but my fists to fight with, and a continaul regeneration to always keep me just barely alive.

    Question 3
Which forum sections do you find you visit the most? Which forum sections do you find you visit the least? (Visit does not necessarily mean that you post in them, it can be simply reading them)

    Most: General and Development Discussion
Least: Pretty much every other forum.

    Question 4
What are your aspirations for DDO for 2008?

Rogues getting significant loving. Ranged Combat getting a big boost. New Classes and Races. Some form of Guild improvements as well as PvP enhancements.

    Question 1
If you could thank a Turbine representative for something, what would that something be?

    ..not smoking.

No, wait! I would thank any dev who talks to us in the forums for being here and caring what we have to say.

    Question 2
You are captured by an evil NPC. He informs you that he has discovered the ultimate torment for his prisoners. What is the worst thing he could do to you? (Keep answers within forum guidelines please)

Kill the ones I love first. After that it's almost academic. Pain is pain.. lots of ways to exceed what a human can endure.

    Question 3
Which forum sections do you find you visit the most? Which forum sections do you find you visit the least? (Visit does not necessarily mean that you post in them, it can be simply reading them)

    Developer, General, Thelanis

    Question 4
What are your aspirations for DDO for 2008?

To keep growing! New players, new content, new Prestige lines, new quests, quests quests.

    Question 1
If you could thank a Turbine representative for something, what would that something be? Probably the continual work done on and the release of free content.

    Question 2
You are captured by an evil NPC. He informs you that he has discovered the ultimate torment for his prisoners. What is the worst thing he could do to you? (Keep answers within forum guidelines please) Acid singed lungs, burnt flesh, slow drowning... there are just too many forms of torment in a fantasy world.

    Question 3
Which forum sections do you find you visit the most? Which forum sections do you find you visit the least? (Visit does not necessarily mean that you post in them, it can be simply reading them) I read the bard section pretty often, but I mash the dev tracker button continually so take your pick.

    Question 4
What are your aspirations for DDO for 2008? For me I'd be happy if they just kept banging out free content and level increases, although I think many would like to see the completion of the core classes and races and that would be good too.

Thanks Codog for starting a series of discussions that added a lot to player comunication and feedback

    Question 2
You are captured by an evil NPC. He informs you that he has discovered the ultimate torment for his prisoners. What is the worst thing he could do to you? (Keep answers within forum guidelines please)

Say that my cleric cant use weapons and fight, that i need to stay behind the group holding a CMW and healing the 600 hps WF barbarian with 10 ac non-stop with it.. Its my worst nightmare

    Question 3
Which forum sections do you find you visit the most? Which forum sections do you find you visit the least? (Visit does not necessarily mean that you post in them, it can be simply reading them)

    Most: The dev tracker
    Least: The support area (gladly)

    Question 4
What are your aspirations for DDO for 2008?

I hope DDO reach lvl 20, that more classes and races will be added and please please please add more char slots, 9 is not enought. I have more then 50 builds planned and only able to test 15 of those... 6 are history now, dont make me delete more capped chars please, i love them all

    Question 1
If you could thank a Turbine representative for something, what would that something be?

For showing up at PAX 08 to show off/hype up DDO. Please note this is pending.

    Question 2
You are captured by an evil NPC. He informs you that he has discovered the ultimate torment for his prisoners. What is the worst thing he could do to you? (Keep answers within forum guidelines please)

Applies to level-capped characters only: Forced to run a timed quest w/ multiple random elements (to prevent route learning & pattern mapping) with only starter gear while my personal gear was held hostage. When the timer expired to a certain point, one piece of personal gear would be irrevocably destroyed - unless bound by the Stone of Change. But the expired timer would cause the item to be unbound & the next tick would destroy it.

However, the end reward would need to justify the risk.

    Question 3
Which forum sections do you find you visit the most? Which forum sections do you find you visit the least? (Visit does not necessarily mean that you post in them, it can be simply reading them)

I regularly read my home server forum, the Dev forum, and the General forum. I sometimes visit the class/race forums looking for specific information. I've never even clicked on Off Topic.

    Question 4
What are your aspirations for DDO for 2008?

I am hoping to see some of the following:
Fighter Enhancements Lines like the ones for Bard, Ranger, and Rogue.
Multiple options for Bardic instruments.. Yes, it would be hard to code but it would be such a welcome change.
I'd like to see the Perform skill do something other than unlock songs.
Wiz/Sorc Enhancements Lines like the ones for Bard, Ranger, and Rogue.
    Half-Orcs would be nice.

I visit mostly General / Dev / Thelanis / Newbie / Class (and subforums) / Guest / Newbie
The one I visit least would be Other forums than Thelanis / Calendars / Stories & Campaigns / RL Events / PnP / Off-topic

    Question 4

I'm hoping for Half-Orcs and a level cap increase to 20

"The sword itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with swords."

*grin* For hiring one of our well-knowns and putting them on the inside for us. (brownie points, ftw.)

    Question 2
You are captured by an evil NPC. He informs you that he has discovered the ultimate torment for his prisoners. What is the worst thing he could do to you? (Keep answers within forum guidelines please)

The tried and true, 'make you watch your loved one(s) tortured/tormented/dismembered' routine.

Off-Topic. Definitely. Then from there, where ever the 'New Posts' button tempts me with.

To play. Nothing more, nothing less.

    Question 1

GOD MODE. not really. For something? The ability to make server-wide announcements for my contests.

    Question 2

Due to the forum guidelines I cannot answer this question. But I do know how it would be.

    Question 3

    Dev, General and Ranger forums.

    Question 4
What are your aspirations for DDO for 2008?

I would like to see 2 or 3 more wilderness areas that are each as large as the desert and orchard combined. I would like to see 10 to 15 new quests per upcoming mod. I would like to see level 20 by December 15th.

Q: If you could thank a Turbine representative for something, what would that something be?

A: Thanks for listening to our feedback.

Q: You are captured by an evil NPC. He informs you that he has discovered the ultimate torment for his prisoners. What is the worst thing he could do to you?

A: Before I kill you, Mr. Bond, you must lead Coyle through the Pit. On Elite! BWAHAHAHAHHAHAA!!!!!

Q: Which forum sections do you find you visit the most?

A: I check the Dev Tracker several times a day.
My posts usually chase Dev posts, but the rare thread that I start will be in Development Discussion.

Q: What are your aspirations for DDO for 2008?

A: I'm expecting to be armpit deep in first level half-orc monks any day now.

I'm hoping you fine tune crafting to a something you are happy with, and then make it available to lower level characters and/or casual players. Right now, I see it as something that "wasn't meant for me".

I'd be pleasantly suprised if you to had something in the works so that I don't spend the majority of the year level capped. Even as a casual player, I hit the caps pretty quick.

There was a girl warforged named Cleaver.
Every man that she loved would soon leave her.
They all left so fast / as they couldn't get past
the fact that she has a Brass Beaver
