Default SLI Support Does Not Work For DDO with Vista xp64, any help appreciated

Anyone else have vista x64 that is using SLI (NVIDIA) with DDO. When I enable SLI support for DDO it gets choppy and the frame rate drastically lowers. My setup below works with most of the current games I play but having trouble with this one. If I turn of SLI in the control panel the games works fine but it is kind of pain to switch it on and off. Anyone get SLI to work with Vista and DDO.

    System:
    Intel Quad Core 6600
2x NVIDIA 8800GTX GPUs in SLI
    4GBs ddr2
    SoundBlaster X-fi
Windows Vista Ultimate x64 with SP1 (just released) - No other updates are available at this time from Microsoft after SP1
Current 169.25 NVIDIA force ware drivers

Did you check nvidia's sli info to see if they had a DDO profile? most games without profiles by Nvidia for SLI do not work well with it.

It does, which leads me to believe that it is a Vista or DDO problem.

Pfft.. The differences between DX9 and DX10 currently being implemented is minor at best.. not too mention that DDO doesn't even support DX10 like LOTR does..

LOTR not the topic of discussion. Holly .... Philosophical discussion and I have a Computer science degree; who cares I just want SLI with DDO. Anyone using Vista x64 with SLI and DDO or do we want to discuss the merits of vista vs. xp. I personally do not care. The reality is we will have to adopt over time.

I don't know anything you can do to get it to work. I keep thinking it may be flaky with the 64-bit version you have there....but then again, I'm not running x64 at home (no SLI (or nVidia) for that matter). However, I am interested to see if you can get it to work. In the mean time, your setup should be pushing almost max settings for most resolutions with just the one card. I'm running a Radeon 3870 512mb on a ASUS M3A32 MVP Wifi Deluxe and just about everything is maxed out in 1600x1200 (I think I have anti-alias at 4x).

I got it jacked up also but when I run crysis or a more demanding game I have to keep switching between SLI mode and one card. Kind of pain and SLI works with those game on my setup. I am going to keep trying and will update this post if I find an answer.

    Did you find an answer?

I am presently trying to decide whether to get 2x 9800m GT SLI or 1x 9800m GTX.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

    Default Help

Yes I would also like to know. I just "upgraded" to Vista from XP where I was doing almost perfectly with DDO. The almost part meaning the frame rate was not a consistent 60 although close most of the time (I set it locked to 60) and just a bit of clippiness once in a blue moon to make the game not feel as fluid as it should with max settings. It was an upgrade from 2gb RAM & 2.0 ghz dual core AMD cpu and I was running 2 7900 GT KOs with no problems in SLI. I digress.

I upgraded to Vista to take advantage of 6gb RAM & new cpu (dual core AMD 3.0ghz 512mb L2 cache etc) I was putting in. DX10 is a side note since it is not supported by DDO. I have a 2 card SLI setup with 7900 GT KOs and again with XP they were doing a bang up job running with alternate force frame 1 or 2 as the SLI setting. No matter what I try "with SLI" nothing is working. The game is running at about 30-40 fps and obviously with this significant of an upgrade in hardware they fps should stabilize/go up not go down and flow worse.

I too, am wondering if there is a way to get SLI to work properly. Please bugger off with get rid of vista and dx10 comments. I am obviously looking for someone who is mature and has some expertise in this area. Not the l337 d00dz wit da aw3s0m3 xp w/ dx12 which r0xx0rz.

Thumbs up (Mostly) Works fine for me

    My system:

Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.15 GHz (stock 3 GHz)
    eVGA 780i motherboard
    4 GB RAM
    a bunch of drives
2 x eVGA 8800GT OC in SLI, overclocked a bit more by me, latest drivers.
    650w power supply
    Windows Vista Ultimate x64

I have had 2 BSODs in some nvSomething, which happen in no other game, but otherwise high frame rates, no lag.

It's working perfectly for me too, with no tweaking required.

    Quad Core
    2 x Nvidia 9800M GT in SLI
    4 GB RAM
    Vista Ultimate 64

    Default working fine but how

That's cool it's working fine, but with what settings? I am trying to have settings at full (ie ultra/very high everything, anti-aliasing etc.). This was working for the most part with my prior setup and should be doing better now. I dumped Vista as it just sucked for me (I realize some people do fine with it) and put on XP 64 which seems to be quite a bit more stable at the very least. Now my immediate concern is getting games to run optimally. That was the intent of the upgrade. I suppose I could go back to standard XP if I can't get this right and see how that goes. I'd rather not as I now have 6gb RAM as I mentioned above and would like to utilize it properly. Another possibility I haven't yet tried is going Vista 32 as opposed to the Vista 64 I tried.

Any suggestions would be awesome and please pretty please when you say something works fine please elaborate on your in game settings and also your Nvidia or whatever applicable settings.

    I have Antialiasing disabled.
I also have AllowFakeFullScreen=False set in my UserPreference.ini
Graphics is set at Ultra High and all other settings are at High.

I am running duel 8800 GTX cards on a 30" monitor at 2560x1600. Running through the Marketplace I am getting 150fps on average. When in a quest this number can go over 300 fps depending on which way I am looking.

I am using the current 178.13 drivers.
    Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1
I have a QX6700 processor at 2.6. I can OC it to 3.2 if need be.
6 gigs DDR2 Corsair Dominator Memory - currently at 800Mhz but it can be overclocked to 1066Mhz.
