    Default mid level weapons questions

    hi all,

just playing with my barb build and got him to lvl 6.

the plan is to be a 2 weapon fighter eventually playing with dps/puncturing (you know the drill).

my understanding is that at level 6; with improved 2wf; you finally get an advantage to it (an extra attack).

i'm not sure what weapon combo's are best at this level.

to get to level 6; i used a +1 acid greataxe of pure good.

now; if i equip +1 flaming dwarf axe of pg and +1 frost dwarf axe of pg; i'm at like +6 +6 on my first swing

if i equip either of the above axes with a +1 shock handaxe of pure good; i'm at like +9 +9 or something

(can't remember if that was with power attack on or not).

so; considering i'll be running delera's / stormcleave / tr elite / co6 for the next couple levels; is there
an obvious set i should be going with?

am i missing out on some other weapons that i should be looking for?

    my feats so far:
    power attack
    twf
    itwf

i have no idea what is best.

well i answer one question the reason u got 6+ 6+ is because your using to heavy weapons one way to stop that is to use a light in off hand the other is to take the oversized weapon feat as it allows 2 heavy weapons to be weilded

see if you can get your hands on some bursting d axes since that is where they tend to shine...also for deleras you should be able to pick up some decent maces on the AH fairly cheap to use against those pesky skeles.

Make sure to get a maul or warhammer or mace with PURE GOOD on it. That will tear up the ghostly skells in Deleras.

Maelstrom and run Delera's until you get Carnifex.

Have the same Dwarf up to 8 now - it will be level 12 before you can really start dual wielding (gtwf).

but is carniflex that great? sure the crit range is 17-20 and it +3; but no elemental and no pure good damage.

It's just the crit range, it makes a big difference especialy when you don't have improved crit yet.

But the poster is going for TWF so carniflex doesnt exactly fit the bill.

Dual dwarven axex are good, just whatever ones you can find. Righousness is always a good trait for low level weapons so keep an eye out for that.

My elven ranger has a two keen puncturing rapiers at level 6 and those are a good poor man's W/P until you get improved critical pierce. They do a nice job on anything they can effect. Not super easy to find but I got mine from the AH just by checking it often for good mid level weapons.

Not dumb, just uninformed (and that's what the forums are here to help!).

Physical Damage > bonus effect damage (speaking of HP damage not stat damage). So, anything that improves your crit range and/or physical damage is typically better than added d6s.

Even on a TWF build I'd use Carniflex at L7-8 until I'd get Improved Crit for my dual-wield weapons.

My suggestion would be to *gasp* use a dwarf axe and a shield. AC is king at low levels < 10, if you can hit 30 AC you will take barely any damage at level 6 quests, and it's not that hard to get.

There is not that big of a difference at that level between a Dwarf Axe and a Great Axe as gear/enhancements/stats have not yet balooned to mythical proportions.

Power attack is also less useful as you, in general, don't have the astronomical to-hit to leave it on all the time.

Anyway, I would consider a shield, although you have already skipped a big chunk of the levels where you should have used one.

Really I never start TWF until I get ITWF, before then I use a shield.
