    Default Free Ranger Feats

    Hi All,

I'm farily new to the ranger class. Do you need to take Point Blank Shot as a feat for some of the free ranged ranger feats you get to work, like Rapid Shot and Manyshot? Looking to plan a ranged-combat focused build.

    Thanks

You do not need to meet the pre-req's for any granted class feats, the only restriction for the ranger class feats is that you can not wear medium or heavy armor.

So, no you do not need to take point blank shot.

    side-question...

if you have a ranger/fighter and wear mith plate your evasion will not work, but do the same rules apply to other class granted feats while wearing medium armor?

No you don't need the feat for the free ranger feats but you may want to have it to qualify for the Deepwood sniper enhancement.

And, in DDO, you CAN use ranger feats (but not evasion) while wearing medium and heavy armor. A pure ranger is not proficent in wearing medium and heavy armor however and that's what kills heavy armor for you. A single level of fighter, paladin, cleric will grant you the ability to wear medium and heavy armor and then you can use it freely until you get evasion.

    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

so far, evasion is the only ability limited by armor, if i recall.

Unless the feat specifically calls for a lighter armor you should be good (many shot, 2 hand fighting, etc)... though a Mithral Breastplate works wonders if you've achieved a high enough Ranger level to get evasion. Definitely worth it IMO.

i have always played elf ranger/rogue types so the +5 mith chain has been my armor of choice. looted some sweet +3 mith plate (ML 4!!!!) and am enjoying my newly rolled dwarf ranger/fighter i built so i can wear it. i can always switch over to a +5 mith BP once he gets evasion.
