Default How can I improve this character?

Been away a while, started playing way back in the beta. I have a cleric who is 7th level benched for the longest time, almost 2 years now. I am interested in starting to play him again but feel because he is a 28 point build, and his stats were more in favor of pen and paper than the min max builds of ddo, he is going to be a very sub standard character in the upper game without fantastic raid gear which frankly I dont have time to raid for. Is it possible to salvage this character, I dont mind multi classing, and feel it would probably be for the best as I have already wasted points into strength. P.S. another reason not to reroll is he is on the fountain

    7th level dwarf cleric

    Str 14
    Dex 10
    Con 12 (wince)
    Int 10
    Wis 16 (current unbuffed)
    Chr 14

I know I know dwarf with charisma are you crazy? I thought turn undead would be a bigger part of the game, feel pretty dumb now. A 14 charisma does afford me some things though, If I took a few levels of paladin, I would actually have a useful save bonus. Or mabye a level of bard for fasination. I have a feeling some mix of fighter/paladin added levels is this characters only hope though.

I dropped this character and havent rolled a dwarf since, everywhere I looked everything but wizards was being rolled up dwarf at the time, so I have very little experience with their new enhancements or abilities after they changed it way back when it was just 4 to choose from. I dont mind only reaching max level 8 cleric spells, or heck if it would be good now just going pure fighter for the remainder of his levels for a decent (albeit lowish strength) meelee character with some spell and wand versatility.

Any experienced character builders that can lend a hand?

I wouldn't really go more than 1 level if you're multiclassing. 16 wisdom is totally workable with Destruct and such. Doesn't even have much of an effect on Blade Barrier. Just put the rest of your level up points into wisdom, you'll be down 3 overall, which is up to 2 DC loss compared to someone with maxed wisdom and all level up points into it. Sorta sucks for Destruct, but isn't a huge issue overall.

Not sure what feats you have now, but Mental Toughness/IMT, Quicken, Extend, Maximize, are all solid enough feats. Empower is decent too.

If you really wanna be a more melee focused build... I'd still just recommend 1 level, so that you don't give up casting too much, and it'll give you the important melee stuff (greataxe/greatsword/dwarven axe proficiency for instance).

Your Totally FIne for a 28Pt Build.... Gonna surprise some people with DV's even..... I would recomend the following Feats...

TOughness (Dont need to worry about CON when Dwarves have a CON Enh and a Redicuous Toughness Enh)
    Extend
    QUicken
    Mental TOughness
    Improved Mental Toughness
ANd then fr your last feat, add some flare..... Maximize if you want to boost your Blade Barrier, Maybe a SF inNecromancy if you want to help your Slays and Destructs, Maybe Extra Turns if you want some more DV's or EMpower Healing if you want to boost your HEALS..... Lots of options.

I do want to have strong blade barriers at the end, but if I do add just one level of meelee, am I better off for fighter for free tower shield and an extra feat, or paladin for +1 saves, 1 ac, and more spell points. Either way I pick up dwarven axe, are the enhancements better or complimentrary for paladin or fighter. My main is a 16th wizard so I know nothing about meelee enhancements.

If I took 2 levels of paladin, would it be worth it for the possible 20 charisma and +5 to my overall saves, or are they less important than being able to get level 8 spells.
