I believe the ebberon campaign setting allows paladins to multi-class though so for DDO purposes that argument doesn't really matter.

you mention a feat that allows them to do it, and prestige classes that allow them to do it. I don't recall any feats or prestige classes that allowed a paladin to multi-class without restriction but I'll allow it's possible (I don't own all the books and haven't read a good bit of the ones I do own in awhile). But even if these feats/prestige classes exist, they don't apply in DDO. A paladin in DDO that wants to multi-class into rogue doesn't have to spend a feat to do so or take a prestige class.

But in the end even if DDO followed the 3.5 rules to the letter, most paladin multiclasses only take either 2 or 3 levels of it and take them all at the same time so they could still splash pally early then move on to their main class. They just wouldn't be able to split the pally levels up and take them at different times.

Those are not core 3.5 rules. They are supplements. There's a difference, correct? Core is the PHB, DMG and MM.

At any rate I think the point is paladins shouldn't HAVE to multiclass to be as effective as other classes, not whether or not they should or shouldn't be able to.

In 4.0 paladins can MC all they want AND they don't have to be lawful good. But that's another discussion entirely...

The Eberron Campaign setting is fairly core for a game that takes place in Eberron.
