    Default Halfling/Drow Sneak Attack Range

Currently the game is slanted as such that Halfling and Drow make superior rogues... further... they both specialize in thrown weapons.

Unfortunately sneak attacking with thrown weapons, although very defensive... just isn't terribly feasible as the range on sneak attacks is relatively small.

Allowing these two races who are so adept with thrown weaponry to be able to increase their thrown weapon sneak attack range would be a serious boon.

Consequently, I suggest the following enhancements be included for these two races in the upcoming mod:

Rogue Ranged Sneak Attack Precision I You increase the effective range of your sneak attacks by 25%.
    Action Points: 2

Rogue Ranged Sneak Attack Precision II You increase the effective range of your sneak attacks by 50%.
    Action Points: 4

Rogue Ranged Sneak Attack Precision III You increase the effective range of your sneak attacks by 75%.
    Action Points: 6

heck, judging by eye, and saying a human is 6 feet tall, i'd say our effective range on our sneak attack is about 10-15 feet anyway, and should be 30!

Yeah, the current ranges are pretty timid, to put it mildly.

I like this idea...a lot actually.

I nixed the ranged rogue idea way back before mod 1. The range on sneak attacks is just too low.

I use to tell aspiring range rogues of an easy way to know if you can get sneak attack damage. If your tank is beating on a mob, get close enough to grab your tank's butt, and that should give you sneak damage. If you have to be that close, whats the point?

Yeah I tried this once too and thought it was broken because I never go any sneak rolls. It is crazy how close you have to be to get this to work.

Yeah, when i was a kid, my mom always told me a great way to catch a bird. You come up behind it and put a tablespoon of salt on its tail.

Once i got past the blind trust stage of my childhood and questioned what had always seemed like flawless logic, I told her, "Mom, if you're able to sneak up on a bird and put a tablespoon of salt on its tail, couldn't you just reach down and pick up the bird?"

She paused, looked over the book she was reading, and said, "Exactly."

Default definatly to close for comfort

Its hard to know exactly how far a distance is considered by the ingame physics, but certainly the range on sneak attacks is far shorter then the 30 feet in PnP. 30 feet in PnP is how far a average human sized character can run in a single round and make 1 atk. Granted this game works on a real time physic which does allow for some intense action. Shuriken have seemed broken from day 1 as in PnP you can throw 3 with a single attack but doing 1 pnt of dmg each combined with the logic of using poisens and either overwhelming even high con dwarfs with multiple saves or hitting 3 different targets was generally the accepted logic as to why they had an exotic feat req. Since no such tricks exist in DDO I often pondered why even bother putting shuriken in since anyone can use throwing daggers which do more dmg and are a simple prof req. The whole drow racial feat and enhancment line seemed such a joke it combined with the watered down SR really only showed how 32 point elfs and halflings far outshine drow in many ways.

Along with the to short to non existant sneak atk range is the inherent problem of not giving a speed penalty to both players and foes wearing medium and heavy armors or being dwarves and halflings. When everything is moving fast why bother being ranged when they close much to fast to bother hurling a knife more then once before needing to deal with a close quarters fight.

And one last kind of side point, why cant we use throwing returning weapons as melee weapons as well I recall in the old baldurs gate series they allowed you to toggle the weapon between melee and throwing modes quite easily seems like they could do it on a much more advanced game if they tried and it would help make daggers the versitile if small and low dmg weapon they are meant to be.

There seems to be a fairly significant difference between horizontal distance measures and vertical distance measures in DDO. It's also fairly noticeable when it comes to spells. (You can't tell me that cone of cold is 60 feet!)

But with only about 15 points in jump I can vertical jump over people's heads, which D&D would tell us is only about 4 feet.
