Default Please remove craft alters from raid [suggestion]

I have run the new raid several times now, and every time we hit an alter it seems that the pace grinds to a halt. Last night while at the first alter, we waited 20 minutes (and then I waited even longer when an orthon one-shotted me and I was shunted to the penalty box). I can't see how it would adversely affect the game if we simply removed the alters from the raid itself, and just let us do this on our own time. To make sure that we are getting to the proper point to upgrade add to the chests a special item that will allow us to make the upgrade. Then you can take back what you earned, and upgrade later, instead of dragging out the process to a 20 minute break as everyone trades items and looks through the recipes.

I like going to be before midnight.

    That's a valid point.

    Hmmm,

    Might be a valid point.

If you keep ingredients and shards of power dropping in the raid, you'd still have to run the raid, and all the parts, to get the appropriate things to upgrade your greensteel items. And since the shards of power bind, you'd have to finish the raid to be able to get tier 3, you'd have to finish part 3 to get tier 2 anyway, etc. The only difference is you could do it somewhere else, other than making others wait for you in the raid.

I like how it works in the current design. It requires characters to actually employ strategy inorder to even reach the devices to imbue their items.

Extracting the devices and placing them in/about the town will remove the Raid from loot mechanic associated with the devices. In turn there will be more RMT on the items needed while removing any need for success to acquire the rewards.

Plan accordingly. Some quests can be ran just for loot and others for completion. If you don't have 20-30 minutes to wait at the first device you could always "accidently" activate the next portal.

i think that would be awesome.

it is frustrating from both sides.

either you're scrambling to sort out recipes while everyone waits for you....

or you're getting frustrated because player X is saying hold on; i need to check the forums and be
sure i'm getting this recipe right.

i'm guessing the dev's had a reason for keeping them in raid...and it does help with the 'lore' behind it..

but it would be a great change if you could sort it out.

edit: they could leave the final altar in there as others can recall and you can stay as long as you'd like

    Please explain.

The power shards bind. And they still drop in the raid. The only way for you to get a power shard would be to have one drop for you in the raid chest, or someone to assign it to you in the raid chest. If you wanted the 1st tier upgrade, you'd need to complete part 1 to get the shard of power. If you wanted a tier 2 upgrade, you'd have to complete part 3 for the shard of great power. If you wanted the 3rd and final tier, you'd have to get past part 4 and get a shard of supreme power.

How would removing the altars remove raid loot mechanic, if everything else stayed the same?

The Power Shards already ensure that you have to run the raid (and reach the appropriate point) in order to craft your item.

The only thing having the altar in the raid does is add a big logistical nightmare to people's raiding runs. (And, I suppose, there's a bit of 'flavor' involved.)

how about moving the first couple altars to the 12.

would make sense that they can create dual dimension areas for the altars to exist.

would also give you a reason to go to the 12

    YES.

Move the first two altars from the Raid to the Twelve. They even have two locked rooms that an be unlocked, just drop the altars in there. The power shards still bind, so no one can craft enchanted weapons without running raid anyway.

As much as I love my guildies, the raids grind to a halt at those two altars. We could get things running by moving them to the Twelve. Even last night, when we royally kicked that Pit Fiend's butt and saved the world.

I just agree completely. There must be some other way to protect the integrity of the altars from those who just buy or trade for ingredients - like a flagging mechanism. I actually run the raid less than I would like to because of the unpredictability of how much time will be spent crafting.

Ya, but do you really want someone to do that to you? Or if you do it more than once, do you want people not to take you with them?

I don't. So I wait. I guess I will just use my laptop and troll the forums.

Alternatively, simply allow people who have completed the raid once to access the altars without re-doing the raid. (Maybe even just the first two altars.)

You'd still have to do the raid multiple times to get the power shards, but you could then do the crafting on your own time, if you wanted to not make the other 11 people in your group wait around for you.

Wow. Well, as you wanted to be sure to never invite me to a run of yours, can you please indicate your alts? I don't want to ever have someone in my party that's going to intentionally sabotogue a Raid.

    Default Dude?

If you don't have 20-30 minutes to wait at the first device you could always "accidently" activate the next portal. ???? Are you serious?? I am completely behind having the altars appear elsewhere after 1st raid completion and binding ALL ingredients to eliminate the bogus plat farming prices they are going for on the AH. This would also make it way easier to form a group to do the shroud. But as we have to deal with it the way it is now you would seriously ruin someones chances to upgrade their items that are a grind and a half to even get the pieces for? I try not to flame anyone so I won't tell you what I'm thinking, but I would like to know your alts also.

How about making it where you can travel around freely in the area after the raid is completed? That way a party can craft on the run OR come back to it after whatshisname dies.

    Activating the portal wouldn't matter....

All the portals after the initial one stay open. Not sure about how long they stay open if somebody actually goes through it, however.

Personally, to me, this isn't crafting in the slightest. Its "if you know the right recipes, you can pick your own raid loot." Yeah, I want crafting, but this isn't it. You have to be in a high tier of the playerbase to even remotely call this crafting. Crafting should be the diversion, and the sidenote to adventure, and something you do during downtime. You shouldn't have to grind a raid to be able to craft.
